To bring it back on topic slightly, apparently the fix for a save hanging mid game, is to go on holiday mode. The game will then work through the rest of the match, but I am told that you will invariabley lose the game.

I know...but could have done with that bit of knowledge beforehand and the crash really spoilt the taste of that save game.

Personally, I'd slap your computer upside it's head, and tell it not to crash again or you'll sell it's parts to Orangina Warlord. I did it once and my computer has behaved since...
