Started 11/12 season at last, and already had this one. The lack of healthy players pushes towards filling the subs with all you can and sometimes one of those 'never-be-a-regular' guys score vital goal (he's too old, or he's just worse than other options).
I've had such player in Altrincham. Being a regular starter he scored like 5 or 6 in a season in ECN, got pushed aside into reserves eventually. During next seasons he became old but still, in his last season (in L1) he managed to score couple of importamt goals being brought on as a matter of panic tactical searches.
These players don't perform brilliantly (or at all) playing in XI all the time, but letting them on sometimes does wonders. Of cause, there's much more of total crap type.
To the 'how do you feel' part then.
Placing the guy into 1st XI does crap, he goes to reserves and then at some point again scores a goal. Has anybody encountered this too?
I did. In some of my games I had guys who were crap everytime I put them into the starting 11. Whenever I was in an injury crisis though and picked them as sub, they'd come on highly motivated and play well.
I guess that it's just their character that makes them perform in such moments. Usually I still dump them though whenever I get the chance to.
I wonder if it was the same guy...but when I was with Altrincham I came into the same scenario. Crap when a regular...a stud after sitting for a while. I've found one at Derby as well.
They're not bad...but they're not great either. And deep down...you still know they're sh*te.
Super subs can be quite handy. But as the cosmo-poof says it's better to have someone who can do the business all the time. Dump them at the first opportunity
