Quick question on FM2006, grey players, and LLM. Was managing Vuxhall Motors, and decided to sign some of the grey players to strengthen the squad. They ended up helping me out, and were an immidiate fix. However, this felt like cheating, since they wern't scouted, and could be signed pretty cheaply.
Seems like the LLM gurus should impose a grey player signing limit, or I think this could get out of hand.
Unless the grey players are overrated in game terms, I can't think why anyone with a typical LLM tight budget would want to offer loads of contracts as they'd cost money for wages and presumably no-one is likely to want to buy them...
As for scouting, I've not tried this so I don't know...can you not ask your coaches for a report on a grey player before you sign them?
Same as signing (scouted) freebies in past versions, as far as i'm concerned.
You don't have to scout those (don't think you can anyway, they're already in your team). As long as you sign them in order to use them and notin order to sell them ASAP to generate income, they're fair play. So it depends on your own disposition towards the game.
I think we'll have to wait for the proper game before jumping to conclusions.
If you choose to sign them, you'll have to pay their wages so there is that to consider. I'm going to go for the huge db myself and see what goodies my scouts come up with.
Grey players are already in your squad. There's a good chance you might get a chance to run the rule over them in training, right?
Limits? Has anyone ever limited how many players you can buy? Only the board. I know a couple of LLaMas that sign anything that moves
So it's not an issue IMO. It's (like Kostis said) no different to signing freebies your scout finds. You sign 'em, you got to find a way to pay 'em. It's actually more realistic, as all the "greys" can be though of as guys who are already loosely affiliated and train with your side as they haven't found another semi-pro team - that has to be better than signing random blokes that your scout finds unattached, for me.
The only downside I can see is that they may well be crap players. But when has that ever stopped a LLaMa?
