Morro D'Oro. I know enough about European languages to recognise D'Oro as "of gold" (or golden). Morro? Doesn't seem to translate in Italian but in Spanish, Morro D'Oro is Golden Hill, (or as could be Nose of Gold according to one translator) that'll do nicely for my first venture into LLM.
Sitting in Serie C2/C with no funds, an already overdrawn balance of £15k and finally a team of pizza eating, stubbly Italian pre-madonna's who don't know one end of a football from another.
Some early essential scouting fills out the team with 3 loanee's (keeper, MC, and a DL) from Serie C1 and I embark on my first season with my happy-go-lucky chairman expecting a brave fight against relegation from one of Italy's lowest division.
A disastarous Serie C Cup campaign starts off with 3 heavy losses until I find a team worse than mine whom I beat with an impressive 2-0 victory.
A very competitive division, I'm rarely more than 8 points away from top, but likewise, a similar distance from dreaded relegation.
The Chairman declares himself extremly pleased with any scrapped 1-0 win against anyone. The Golden ones stumble along to a very respectable 12th, a non-losing streak of 6 games the highlight followed immediately by a non-winning streak of 7 games. A DC is fined 2 weeks wages for punching at opponent only to upset 4 of the first team with his punishment.
My on-loan striker (already at the club) is the star of the season with not only 8 goals but 3 assists. Unsurprisingly, my goalie has the most mom's with 8.
A tight little ground of 1000 seats is regularly filled by my brave battlers, but even full attendance and part time wages leave me at a total balance of around -£200k.
In the close season is a busy time with 7 players in and 7 out. The potential star being a young 22 year old DC from Bari.
Golden glory beckons this 2nd season, although another bad cup start sees only a mild improvement of 1 win and 1 draw, early days in season 2 but 6th after 5 games just outside the playoffs bodes well if we can steer clear of injuries and discriplinary problems (6 yellows in one cup game already).
Apologies on the posting of the one season. I'll let you speculate if pre-madonna is an attempt at a witty pun or my ignorance of how to spell it properly.
