Okay, everybody knows that scouting is crap in FM05, so i'll go straight to the question.
As SWYCT is directly linked with reputation (which is crap in '05), and SYB for League One is applied via "Scout UK&Ireland", the problem arises when the scouting dries up.
During my last 3-4 seasons scouts brought in ~10 players from previous shortlists, and after i test launched scout into Central Europe he brought in some players pretty fast.
So, the question is: what players are easily lured into the depths of L1? I mean, is it common for L1 clubs to sign french, portuguese, norge or some other nationalities? Or, quite opposite, those clubs stick to UK guys?
For example, in Rus D1 and D2 there once were a lot of Brazilians (they were cheap and crap).
Would it be usual to search, say, Scandinavia? This is not because of "if you have to ask..." thingy, but because i don't know specifics of low divisions.
Work permit regulations in Britain make it very difficult for teams to sign non-EU players, although Commonwealth citizens are more likely to get one, but not much.
League 1, money allowing, I'd be quite happy to scout central Europe. The players will soon tell you if it's acceptable for you to bid for them.
Well, given the choice to lose a player on a free or to cash on him - at some point you'll have enough money (right now it's ~2.5 Mln pounds in the bank, 1.9 of which came from outgoing transfers this season).
Bad thing is that money alone doesn't score goals and make cleansheets.
Okay then, i'll give my scout a higher wage contract, and send him to central Europe. Seems the only way for us to have some players in.
The League One team I support has two current Jamaican internationals (both signed from Jamaican clubs as opposed to from other English clubs).
We have had in the past (when we've been in the same league we're at now) Portuguese, Brazilian, Dutch, Swedish and Norwegian players, to name but some.
