The objection to using the 'find' is really to stop you finding players that you know are good - either from a previous game of FM or from player tipping.

I'd say that your own personal knowledge of real people is what you would bring to the job if you were given it in real life (ie if you became a manager tomorrow, you'd like to sign David Beckham because you'll have seen him perform in real life, and therefore have the same knowledge as anyone else). If you wanted to offer your friends a contract sight unseen in real life, that'd be your risk, as it certainly doesn't mean that they'd be any good in FM terms...

That's my view anyway, the other mods probably have their own view on it.
