Finally completed three seasons of my career where I've been running the cup finances experiment...

2004/5 - Worcester City - Conference North

I start off with a decent set up - 21 players, 2 coaches, 2 physios and a whopping 3 scouts. Everyone expects a respectable league position, the pundits even expect a top half finish.
I do brilliantly. I get three votes of confidence and finish 14th. Oddly, the board are satisfied.

Back to the drawing board...

Conference North - 14th, 54 points.
F.A. Cup First Round - Worcester City 0 Barnsley 1
F.A. Trophy Second Round replay - Redbridge 0 Worcester City 0 (Redbridge win on penalties)

Premier League: Chelsea
Championship: Derby County
League 1: Tranmere Rovers
League 2: Swansea City
Conference: Hereford United
Conference North: Nuneaton Borough
Conference South: Weston-super-Mare

F.A. Cup: Charlton Athletic 0 Portsmouth 0 (Charlton win on penalties)
League Cup: Tottenham Hotspur 1 Arsenal 0
Vans Trophy: Sucks Arse
F.A. Trophy: Hereford United 2 Nuneaton Borough 0

Scotland: Celtic
Wales: Rhyl (Taffs Well won the Cup!)
Northern Ireland: Linfield
Ireland: Shelbourne

Champions Cup: AC Milan 0 Roma 0 (AC win on penalties in Istanbul)
UEFA Cup: Athletico Madrid 1 VfB Stuttgart 1 (Athletico win on penalties in Lisbon)

2005/6 - Worcester City - Conference South

Two players graduate from my youth team...
17 year old GK who plays 9 games, concedes 12 and averages 6.89
16 year old DM LC who plays 30 (7) games, scores 3 gets 2 assists and averages 7.19. I'm impressed by this youngster and have high hopes for his immediate future with me.

As a team we do awfully... until February which is where I normally start to do awfully. A marvellous run to the end of the season lifts us from relegation probables to playoff nearly men.

Conference South - 9th, 60 points (only two behind the playoffs)
F.A. Cup Fourth Qualifying Round - Weston-super-Mare 2 Worcester City 1
F.A. Trophy Second Round - Worcester City 0 Havant & Waterlooville 1

Premier League: Arsenal
Championship: Birmingham City
League 1: Bristol City
League 2: Cambridge United
Conference: Wycombe Wanderers
Conference North: Worksop Town
Conference South: Bath City

F.A. Cup: manure 2 Leeds United 0
League Cup: Chelsea 4 Charlton Athletic 1
Vans Trophy: Still sucks arse
F.A. Trophy: Exeter City 1 Aylesbury United 1 (Exeter win 2-0 on penalties)

Scotland: Rangers
Wales: Rhyl
Northern Ireland: Portadown
Ireland: Shelbourne

Champions Cup: manure 1 Chelsea 1 (manure win 4-3 on penalties at Estadio do Sport, Lisbon)
UEFA Cup: Real Madrid 2 Borussia Dortmund 0 (Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid)

World Cup: Brazil 2 Denmark 0
Third place Spain

The Bottle Is Empty...

2006/7 - Worcester City (Conference South) & Stafford Rangers (Conference North)

New local sponsors are signed to Worcester, earning a club a much improved £37,100 for each of the next three years.
A 16 year old D C is promoted, and performs well in the second half of the season.
The DM LC promoted last season continues his improvement, but I don't get to develop him any more as I get sacked on March 10 when lying 17th.

Three days later, I get the job at Stafford Rangers, who are 20th in Conference North. Two straight wins give us hope, but we can't survive and get relegated, giving me the sack twice in one season.

Conference North - Stafford Rangers finish 20th with 41 points and are relegated.
F.A. Cup Fourth Qualifying Round replay - Cheshunt 3 Worcester City 1
F.A. Trophy Fifth Round - Worcester City 0 Workington Town 1

Premier League: manure
Championship: Wolverhampton Wanderers
League 1: Sheffield Wednesday
League 2: Stockport County
Conference: Nuneaton Borough (Southend relegated)
Conference North: Barrow
Conference South: Forest Green Rovers

F.A. Cup: Arsenal 1 Southampton 0
League Cup: Liverpool 3 manure 1
Vans Trophy: Will always suck arse. Will never change.
F.A. Trophy: Nuneaton Borough 2 Aldershot Town 0

Scotland: Rangers win the double
Wales: Total Network Solutions
Northern Ireland: Glentoran do the double
Ireland: Shramrock Rovers

Champions Cup: Juventus 0 Chelsea 0 (penalties 3-1, played at De Kuip, Rotterdam)
UEFA Cup: Schalke 2 Athletico Madrid 2 (penalties 1-0, played at Wankdorf, Bern)

Elsewhere, Romania are drawn in Group 8 of the European Championship Qualifiers... along with England, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland.

two sackings in a season, this could become a relegation tour.
