season 10(2012-2013): End of season update

My combination of experienced veterans and youngsters, hungry for succes, took a slow start, very slow.
After 10games we were 19th with only 7pts. I gave up hope, and started looking for players fot next year. I got in a DMC from the Seychelles(didn't know they were actually big enough to have room for a football field) on a free, and he must have brought lady luck with him, 'cause we finally hit our good form, and reached 1st by February. Brighton, in 2nd, were the only to compete for the title with us.
The other team were already 14pts behind us, so promotion was(almost certainly) achieved!!!

And it was, we kept on winning untill mid-march, but then our small team-depth lost us a bunch of points, and Brighton stole the first position.
We ended the season 2nd, 4pts behind Brighton.
The other team to go up from the playoffs was Liverpool.

The FA-cup was a total disaster, we got kicked out in 2nd round by 3rd div Gravesend, 4-0!

The league cup was a big succes, we got through to the final, after beating ao. ManUtd, Burnley and Chelsea, where we met Newcastle.
We lost 3-1, but as Newcastle are English champions, Dag&Red have an UEFA ticket in the pocket...

They just popped up again in third, with only two players, both -16, wich I stole from them, just because I don't want them to have players.
One of them, a DM/F (R/C) looks promising though.

It gets even better with Ipswich, they also won 2FA-cups; 1 1eague-cup, once got in ECL-semi's and were 2times 3rd placed in the league.

season 11(2013-2014): End of season update

The board expanded my stadium to the required minimum, leaving me with an outstanding loan.

Naturally, my board expected me to battle bravely against relegation, and so did the fans.

First game of the season: Newcastle - Dag&Red: 0-4!!!
Woooooow, what a start, I immediatly started dreaming of an easy season, without relegation worries, and maybe even a ticket for Europe.

Second game of the season: Dag&Red - Norwich: 1-6!!!
Back to reality, I just got thrashed by the only team I was sure of to end lower than me in the league. Here are the relegation worries.

For the rest of the season, things became more realistic, I lost to the big teams, managed to snatch some points against the average teams and beat+lost some against other relegation candidates.

After 35 Games, this was the situation
14th: Ipswich 39pts
15th: Wolves 34pts
16th: Brighton 30pts
17th: Dag&Red 29pts
18th: Sheff Utd 27pts
19th: Liverpool 26pts
20th: Norwich 22pts
Just above a relegation spot, and I could still reach 15th. The calendar matched us against Wolves(away), Arsenal(home) and Sheff Utd(away)
First game: 3-1 loss
Second game: 4-2 loss
I could no longer make it to 16th, but I still stood 17th, so a point was enough(Liverpool had the worst goaldiff ever in prem.)
Third game: First half was very calm, untill my left back curled a beatifull free-kick on the head of my striker: 0-1 for Dag&Red!
Second half started very turbulent, with us missing about 5 chances, then 62th minute, my left back tackled their striker in the box:
Result: Red + penalty.
After that we were totally outnumbered and got thrashed: 1-4.
Dag&Red, Liverpool and Norwich are going back down. I'm quite sure I will not get the sack, but I'm worried by the the outstanding loan, wich will be a drain on my funds. Luckily, I got a lot of freebies coming, and was able to sell some bench-warmers for a nice fee.

My stolen dm/f (r/c) performed quite well in his 9(17) games, and has the third highest average rating. He's already being followed by Inter, ManUtd, Leeds(div2), Liverpool and Anderlecht. I hope I can keep him untill I can give him a normal contract(he's still on youth)

Because I wanted to focus on the EPL, I played my reserves in all domestic cups, I got kicked out in all of them:
FA: - Charlton: 0-1
League: - Hull: 1-2
The Uefa cup matched me with Barcelona in the first round: 2-2 at home and 1-4 at Nou Camp, and Dag&Red was out.

By the way, I forgot to post the World and European champions.

World: Winner-----Second------Organisator
2006: England------Japan------Germany
2010: Belgium------France-----Canada
2014: Nigeria------Argentina--South Africa

Europe:
2004: England------Portugal---Portugal
2008: Serbia&Mont.-Ireland----Austria
2012: France-------Wales------Finland

If you want to know about other continents, confederationscup or world champ. just ask

Goodnight
