Just had a bad experience with Stevenage. Took them from Conference to 2nd in 2 years. However despite a few High profile Free transfers, was struggling.
The board was expecting us to be up at the top, which was mad, every other season they had low expectations. Sacked in November after a 1-0 defeat at Oldham!
To rub salt in the wound Joe Kinnear comes in, and does well, with my players.
Now at Wigan, and look forward to the revenge match. I will have my vengeance. Sweet glorious blood laden vengeance.

There really seems to be differences in Board expectations depending on where you manage. I was sacked mid-season after taking Halifax all the way to the Premiership and being placed 13th. The whole of my career the club were demanding big things.
On the other hand my mate managed Forest Green, they expected relegation every year so when he finally did get relegated - after working his way up to the Premiership - he not only kept his job but the Board remained delighted with his performance.
I guess it seems a little unrealistic that a manager who takes a team up the League in short order would be sacked after reaching the top, but I guess if the club suddenly finds it has the cash and status to hire, say, Claudio Ranieri or Alex Ferguson, it's not going to cut much ice that it was your hard work that gave them that cash and status. Plus, look at Houllier. He was beyond criticism two years ago.. not any more.
