Rep Power: 0 | Their festival is better than their football team
I went and asked Frank what team I should take over in FM 2008 and he told me the name of some Danish team which I looked up and promptly forgot as I couldn't remember wether they were in the Second Division East or West. However my eye fell on the name FC Roskilde. Because I almost went to the Roskilde festival last year, but couldn't due to exams, I took this as a sign from Frank and thanked him and his karma.
All English, Belgian, Spanish, Italian, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish leagues loaded (which might not have been such a great idea)
FC Roskilde has a stadium capacity of 6000 (512 seated), adequate training facilities and basic youth facilities.
Second Division East has 16 teams competing for 1 promotion spot and 1 play-off spot (a match with 2 legs against the play-off spot from Division West) Season 2007/2008 FC Roskilde - Danish Second Division East
Board want a respectable league position by the end of a two year plan, I want to avoid relegation in my first 08 save. It took me until after the transfer window to find me a scout (unfortunately, the transfer window in Denmark also seems to include free transfers) so I was stuck with what I had. Luckily, what I had proved to be enough, sitting mid table at the half way mark.. I then continued to sell half the first team in mid season, and got a few nice players in return. The end result sees us ending 6th, and I was happy. In retrospect, I didn't have to sell anyone, because the amateur status means there's no way I can get a transfer budget, even through selling, and it also ensures a steady cash flow in because of the complete lack of expenses. I think that's kind of broken transfer-wise though, so I just let all my promising players go to give them a chance of success at a bigger club.

Cup sucked. Transfers
Signed 12 players for free; sold/released 13 players for 15k.. Awards
No awards despite a good season because we're in the league with to premier league reserve teams, who got all the awards.

started of with a measly 10k, but we managed a 150k profit over the season due to an average attendance of 554 and especially our amateur status.
I'd also like to note that because there's 2 reserve teams in our league who can't get promoted (and who are generally way to strong for the rest of us), I actually managed a 4th place. So next season a title bid could well be in order.

The board didn't change their expectations, I thoughgt the time was right for a challenge for promotion. However, bids were coming in from everywhere, and us being amateurs, I thought I'd let the players have their fun and let them go. I also cleared out the deadwood a bit, so 14 players left in pre season. I noticed this exodus too late (if you have to click through hundreds of bids for a dozen of players, you tend to forget who's actually leaving and I'm not familiar with the transfer centre) so I only got 3 players in for replacements. I was quite lucky to find out one of those three was a young superkeeper. The 2 others were uselss though. Anyway, I found a tactic that worked and we weren't doing that bad, and some serious strengthening in mid season improved our chances a bit. Unfortunately, we played worse than last season, but then so did the rest of the league (except the two reserve teams, who stormed it) and I was all to happy to notice I ended up in a 3rd place.

Cup will not be discussed
I was even happier to find out that the first two teams couldn't get promoted, so I had the only direct promotion spot thrown in my lap. yay! PROMOTION !!! Transfers
Signed 12 players for free; sold/released 22 players for 70k.. Awards
Again no awards for me except for my new young superkeeper who got signing of the season

We improved our finances even further, for no small part due to me selling some players for money with which I could do nothing. We were sitting at 350k come the end of the season. Nice, but useless.
However, all that changed because we turned semi-pro following our promotion, and after the initial wahey! I started realising I'd have to start actually paying my players and extensive staff. Combined with us losing all our best players to other first division teams, next season was going to get tough.

Rep Power: 0 | Season 2009/2010 FC Roskilde - Danish First Division (16 teams, 2 direct promtion spots, 3 direct relegation spots)
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. So with large gaps in our first team we got in every loan we could to keep us from relegation. Because I refused to sign my players to new contracts before their old ones ran out, we also kept the bank balances stable. The loans performed well and by mid season (when most loans would return to their clubs) we were sitting in an amazing 3rd spot, behind AaB and Viborg, who seemed invulnerable. we got a couple of other loans in to replace the ones who left and continued to take the league by surprise, finishing in a fantastic 4th spot! Despite all this, the fans were always moaning about my dealings in the transfer market (including asking for justification of a player who was considered to be my key man by the analists) and the board hesitated until may to offer me a new contract. The new contract offer was great though, offering me € 925 a week for the next two years, making me the top earner of the team by far. AaB won the league with a stunning 81 points out of 90 and 88 goals scored.

Might as well say nothing more abut the cup. Transfers
Signed 8 players for free; got in a total of 9 loans and sold/released 9 players for 21k.. Awards
Overachiever award

We even managed to make a profit this year, and a 70k profit as well, so I was happy, and so was the board.
Now for next season we'll have to try and get a transfer budget (this year was no transfer budget, and only 5% of transfer revenue made available), and try to get the team ready to do this whole stunt over without loans.

nice Eldereth...
quick question, why only two teams get promoted from first division and three get relegated? Doesn't this unbalance the world? Are there two First Divisions?
Regardless, you seem to be doing quite well! KUTGW!

can't really see how it would unbalance the world Sancho. There's a total of 3 teams getting promoted from second division east and west, so three new teams in first division. This means three teams have to go out of first division through relegation. At the same time, two teams leave first division to go to premier division and are replaced by two teams who got relegated from premier division.
So in total that's 5 teams in and 5 teams out.
There's also only one first division btw.
