Do people use the attributes or just gut feeling? I have players with better attributes who never play as they never play well but then players with lesser attributes regularly playing but with poorer attributes. Is it better to have a better player playing poorly or a lesser one playing out of his skin??
If the latter is correct then how do we guess which players to put where?
I've sometimes selected a team based on attributes, then cleared squad and asked my assistant to choose (as a comparison) and he puts rubbish players in ahead of better ones. Doe she know something I don't?
I think its something which you have to put your own faith in myself - there will always be some players who just 'gel' and play far above their visible attributes and indeed the reverse where someone looks great on paper but never performs consistently on the pitch.
Part of being a manager is ascertaining which are which and ensuring that the team you field are the best possible.
I tend to 'buy' according to their looks - but field a team according to their recent performances if that helps.
tell you the truth i usually buy players based on attributes but i try hard to sign players based on how well they preform
i do this by looking at the history of players and seeing if they played well, how many games they played and what league they are in and who they play for ect.
i do try and look for players who get around high 7s overall form consistantly for several seasons
take Jo for example his shooting is at 12 at the start of the game (tho it does improve quickly) but he has hit over 35 goals a season for me (more than rooney)
also Winston Parks who is a free agent at the start of the game all stats bout 12/13 in physical attributes scored 34 goals in 20 games in the aussie leagues for my melbourne victory team
at the start of 1st season tho i go for players like Jo, Vagner Love and trezegeut (spelling) who i know preform well from previous games
Its better a lesser one playing out of his skin!
I pick team based on theyr history also, attributes are secondary.
If i dont know them well yet ill pick the player who is worth more money and/or is considered to be a key player by my assistant manager, i test him, give him half a dozen games and see how he performs.
also sometimes i let assistant pick to see whos in better form, and change what i dont agree.
As far as buying goes, i search alot of young players , with good history and fairly good attributes scout them all and buy whoever my scout says is either good or excelent.
