I completely agree with the reviewer. In a way I think he is kind to give a 6. Out of the box it's no good at all, after the patch it has become better. But there is much to be desired still. I don't play a whole lot of games. But FM, every single year, is packed with bugs, no other game I've played has this many. Every game has bugs, but FM always has those that makes the game pretty much unplayable untill the 1st patch (or 2nd...or 3rd...in some cases like CM4).

The game is pretty much the same every year in recent years, just like FIFA (not the management series) for example. I don't find to much new stuff either, it's taken from other games or just some tweaked/updated stuff. Problem is that neither FIFA Manager or Champ Man is good enough to compete with FM series. And it's not good that FM is the only management game that has the depth and somewhat realistic match engine. I think it needs some competition to really improve! FIFA can be fun for a while, but you loose interest fast, same with Champ Man. FM08 has become something of a frustrating thing for me, I WANT to play but can find no joy anymore really. It would be best if they didn't realease a FM09, just a update for FM08 and concentrate fully on a fantastic FM10 instead, packed with new and improved stuff! Not to mention very, very well tested for bugs!

The largest newspaper here in Norway also gave this game both thumbs down, understandably.

Reviews are nothing to take notice of. Its less entertaining to review something you like, more entertaining to slate something. Older players will remember Barry Norman's film reviews, hilarious when he hated something.
Besides are we all sheep??? Does this one person's opinion speak for us all? Or are we grown ups who can speak for ourselves???

Like the crazed fan of FM that I am, I didn't take notice of this review. In retrospect, I wish I did. Fortunately, it's only money.
