Hi.

Just 2 things.

1. I can't be bothered to read through all the abuse of the game on here. Is there actually a bona fide list of bugs anywhere? I just have not spotted any bugs. My defenders closing down is a bit dodgy, but I thought it was because I was was Leicester and my centre backs are eeejuts (I sold Kisnorbo by the way). Is this an organised act by CM fans or people with a vested interest in FM losing rep? I'm not accusing, I just want to be clear on why the big kerfuffle.

2. Can't remember the second point.

Pretty scathing tbh

This was an October review and the first that I've come across that (rightly or wrongly) slated FM.

Opinions?

I think that the game is no more than a 6 unpatched (maybe less), but at this time it deserves a 8. Maybe more with official patch. Bugs are being solved, so the game is quite fine now.

Closing down is not a confirmed bug. It works fine in my game. When I set a player to tight marking, closing down, and hard tackling they will chase everyone around the pitch and tackle them.

IMO people expect when they set closing down to high that they will tackle as well? It is a closing down slider not a tackling slider.

I think unpatched at this current state, 6 is a fair score.

They try to improve the match engine too much and unfortunately overdid it. Actually I feel FM06 and 07's engine is better at the moment. I wish the patch can rectify this.

It should also be noted (in the interest of fairness) that while checking out reviews for Pro Evo on other sites I also checked out their reviews for FM08 and it got generally a 7/8 and on one site a 9.

Common theme amongst the reviewers did seem to be that the game offered little in the way of groundbreaking new features. The other sites made these observations but felt that it didn't detract from the overall score for FM.

game = excellent
yeh there's some problems but i bet no one slating football manager has played chap man or fifa.

If they have they haven't got into the game because after a couple of hours you realise the gimmicks certainly don't entertain you as much as the realism and depth of football manager.

Quite simply the amount of time I spend on fm its always a good investment in entertainment.
