Default Anyone else find the job market for Managers very slow?

I must be getting impatient in my old age. I've been playing for 4 seasons and have had good success taking a BSP team from obscurity to the Championship in England.

I'm sure in previous verions of FM that I would have had numerous approaches by now from all sorts of clubs wanting my silky skills, but on FM08, nothing!, only a tentative rumour that I might be in the running for the Leeds job (which I would have jumped at).

However, when Dennis Wise was sacked, there wasn't even a news item, so I had no idea the job was available and some other no mark got the job.

I've have applied for various jobs now and keep getting knocked back. So what have i got to do? I'm tempted to download that FMM thing and enhance my vital statistics a little.

Any thoughts?

You probably have a point there. I started a game unemployed and couldn't get a job for 18 months at which point I gave up

Change your homepage to the jobs page, that way you will know every time a new job comes up.

Also applying for loads of jobs is a very bad idea as it ruins your reputation and loyalty and noone will touch you. I found this out when I achieved World Class status is the game and applied for Milan, Madrid and Barca I got refused for each and then applied for At. Madrid and the media said my constant applications where becoming laughable and it was a cry for help. Lol.

IMO we should get news items to our inbox again when a manager is sacked. It was much better this way. I miss all sorts of stuff how it is at the moment.

TBH I prefer it this way, i'm not getting constant news items about Billy Bloggs from Colchester getting sacked when i'm in the prem. You will only get news items about jobs you have a realistic prospect of getting so it actually benefits us rather than ruin our reputation and loyalty by applying for jobs we won't get.

If the OP was linked with Leeds all he has to do is keep an eye on the vacancies because he knows it mght be coming available or, as I said, just change his homepage.

As a previous poster said you can choose Manager vacancies as one of sections on your home page. It's the only reliable way I've seen to notice jobs that are available.

I agree with about being offered jobs though. In FM06 (last version I played) after a few seasons I'd get a view jobs offers each year along with a lot of rumours. That hasn't happened at all yet in this FM08.

Nomis, thanks for the suggestion, but I'm sorry to be a pain I don't know how to change the Home Page to show the jobs by default. Can you please advise me?

It should be in your preferences section, that's under game options so have a nosey and get it changed. It really is handy as I agree that going to the vacancies page all the time is a real git.
