is there any blurb on how many leagues you should select for various strength processors. I seem to remember a previous version would 'recommend' you played only a certain number of leagues?
assuming we want a certain level of performance, and want games to process relatively quickly between days, what's the official line on the amount of leagues to select (playable, rather than viewable, with, say a small database?)
also, to humour me, could someone answer the following:
1) what is most important - processor speed or RAM (or other)
2) I run a Athlon 4000 processor with 1 gig of RAM. anyone run similar and how many should i select to stop performance from slipping
3) do SI have some sort of super-computer they use to test it on, what specs do you envisage would be required to run all 127 divisions?
I'm tempted to get the latest quad-core machine to play as many leagues as possible.
Anyway, apologies if this is the wrong forum, and thanks for reading. any answers gratefully received.

2) You should be able to run quite a few leagues comfortably with that setup but it's down to individual preference really. What is deemed too slow for someone might be satisfactory for another. Best way to find out is to test it out yourself until you find something that suits you.
3) No super computers I'm afraid

lol, another dream shattered!
thanks for the quick response. is there any sort of guideline yardstick, or any other info that has previously been produced on this site you could link me to?
thanks again for the response though, much appreciated!

I had a 2.6GHZ processer with 0.5GB RAM - in FM 2007 I used to be able to run a fair few leagues but no where near the full 127.
In FM 2008 performance declined significantly so I decided to upgrade my RAM to 2.5GB.
This has made a real difference to performance and I am now running all 127 leagues (not ultra fast - but is suits me. I tend to play whilst studying so I do a bit of work whilst it is processing)
Therefore if you want to upgrade your PC go for some more RAM

i'm running a dual core intel celeron jobby 1.8GHz with 2 GB ram and i can run 20 leagues at a super quick speed i probably could have run twice that amount but i want to have a really long term game 20 years or so.
As the bloke above said it is all down to personal preferance ubt i would suggest 15 leagues for ur system.

The easiest way is to try it yourself. No computer will work exactly like yours, and it doesn't take much time to start a few games with different number of leagues and just see how slow or fast it feels for your taste.
Good luck!
