My last 14 games in Serie A to start the season in 2022 and those are the ratings the opponent GK has gotten. My GK has a rating of 6.8 which seems reasonable. The lone 6 rating came in a game I lost 1-0. My record stands at 3 wins, 6 ties and 5 losses. I'm not complaining about not winning this or that I guess that I just need to vent.
It is pretty frustrating being 2-0 up at the half and completely dominating only to have them score 2 in 5 minutes and have the rest of the game go by without incident. It is pretty frustrating being 1-0 up and dominating just waiting for the counter attack equalizer even though you are playing conservatively. It is pretty frustrating scoring 4 in a game only to have it end 4-4 and still have the opponent GK get a rating of 8.0.
It is pretty frustrating seeing all the action seemingly go your way but have the scoreline indicate otherwise over and over again. I've tried going gung ho and hoping 3 of my 25 shots go in and I've tried to play patient and composed hoping 2 of my 6 shots go in. No matter what I do it seems I'm destined to most likely tie 2-2 and if the other team is better lose 2-1 and of course if the other team is really bad lose 1-0. I don't want to talk about tactics or morale, I just want for once to catch my opponents GK on a bad day.
I realize all numbers even out in the end and all that but right now I'd be nice if that damn random number generator that the game uses to determine everything swung a few of the dice rolls my way.

Most of all I'm really tired of the news headline "<INSERT TEAM NAME> Made to rue missed chances!". I just want FM to be fun and and enjoyable again instead of confusing and frustrating.

Opposition goalies are like gods every time they enter your stadium. Just think: you inspire them to superior performance .
Seriously, though, the ratings for the opposition GK's suggest you're dominating games and have loads of chances. Maybe you're not converting enough of them, so you could try a slower, less attacking game. I found that by slowing the game down, the strikers are less hasty.
Doesn't always work, but worth a try.
Another point to consider is the attacking mentality of your strikers. I found they do better when set to a Normal mentality rather than an Attacking mentality, as it seems to force them to get into better positions rather than try to score from all angles.
Having said that, the 1-on-1 scoring issue is unresolved and requires tweaking for the match engine to become less frustrating. See about a million other posts on that topic...
It is the continuing problem of goals to shot ratio but also IMO the problem of shots made.
I've had games with 30 plus chances and only 2 goals. If we were to see as many goals go in as we would think should given the amount of chances, the scorelines would be ridiculous. To combat this the goalkeeper seems to save a mjority of them.
Less chances would get rid of the Keeper God as their ratings would diminish drastically. But I must agree that one on ones are a major porblem and as I said in a previous post, I have never ever seen my striker take the ball past the keeper, they always shoot WHY??
I guess I'll try playing around with my tactics and stuff but I have a feeling it is not really gonna help. I hope the slump right itself or I guess that patch comes out.
For me the opposition Goalkeeper always gets a higher rating if I play a certain striker. It's because the guy is rubbish technically and mentally and just shoots straight at the keeper 95% of the time, I've even watched the 'keeper parrry the ball back to him 4 times in a row in one highlight and he hits it right back at the keeper to parry again. The ammount of easy saves the keeper makes really bumps up their rating. Occasionally my guy will get it right and get a frigging hat trick but the rest of the time I'd of had a heart attack if the other striker wasn't a goal machine.
On the flip side of the Gordon Banks goalie enigma, is that I can play 18 year old Preston Edwards in goal and know that he will play like Buffon in every game.
This saves me a lot of time and money searching for better keepers.
Also, has anyone ever had a keeper sent off or injured? I never put one on the bench. If the worst happens, I reckon the centre-half will be able to do quite well with the new patch!

His match ratings for the opening 14 matches of the season. Add them all together and you get 109. Divide 109 by 14 and you get 7.7857143. (Let's just call it 7.8 for the sake of it). If my GK can get these sorts of scores, why can't an AI managed GK?
Isn't it just possible that Super Keepers only exist when tactical nous and common sense is implemented?
If a goalie managed to score 10 goals in 14 games he certainly deserves a rating of 7.8, actually 8.8 is more like it. But of course your wonder goalie is outscoring most, and certainly mine, strikers but the GK I faced did no such thing. Of course had they played like they did AND scored as well I'm sure they would have averaged about 9.5.
But it does not matter now, through some miracle I managed to finish the season 4th (my best ever finish) due to scoring the most goals in the league and conceding a fair share as well. I finished with 18 wins 12 ties and 8 losses. So 15 wins, 6 ties and 3 losses after I posted my first comment. Basically it was a bad patch of form to start the year but it still would have been nice to win games I thought I had dominated. I'm ready to get crushed in Europe and looking forward to facing many more seemingly inhuman goalies.

I'm a big fan of your threads in the LLM forum and the Gundo challenge, you always managed to post intersting results and always have those crazy scoring GK that you have every right to be proud of. But ,and forgive me if I'm wrong, you seem to play in N Ireland a lot and getting a GK to score there is not really that hard. I have a save there where I had a striker with 18/18 pace and acceleration and no other rating above 8, I believe his finishing was 3. Yet he regularly scored 25+ a season from the age of 17.
Everyone is so bad there that if you have one good rating on a player you kill the other team. Just showing up to the game meant that you might be getting on the score sheet. Basically comparing a free kick specialist from a non traditional position while they are playing in a Mickey Mouse league to a regular goalies who regularly happen to have career games against me is not the same thing. Even with your rating numbers and scoring goalies the numbers I posted still have a higher average rating with many less 7s, basically the goalies my team faced were better and more consistent it seems. Of course had they managed to get on the score sheet they would be averaging 8.5 at least and I'd have a mighty long shortlist of people to replace my strikers AND goalie.
And of course the best part of this was the fact that your goalie is one man, if he is good his rating will reflect this especially if his competition is weak and getting him scoring does not hurt. I faced 14 separate goalies who averaged almost 8 against me, almost as if it did not matter what attributes they had only the fact that they were playing me. I know that is not the case, but it still felt that way. And of course you can say my team sucks at scoring and the goalies shut down my weak and hasty attack but the fact that I lead the Serie A in soring disagrees.
