Just want to put this down onto the screen before it goes through the other ear! Apologies if this has been done but I get little time to log on these days.
Set Piece Designer. Right now we have drop down menu's with "Near Post Flick On" etc. It's okay and does the job but I feel it is a little too wooley and the user has only so much control to a point.
How about a 'click and drag' designer that lets you place players where you want them on a virtual pitch? Click and drag run arrows for runs that you want players to make and so on.
It's similar to ProZone stuff and the old fashioned pen and paper diagrams that teams use in real life.
I forgot to add a few ideas about saving the different set pieces and using a drop down menu to assign the orders of different set plays, or allowing your set play taker to choose himself.
Also, different areas of the pitch eg. Left and right corners, left and right wing free kicks, right side and left side of the D free kicks, long throws if you have a long throw specialist etc.
Firstly, I'd like to suggest that any new features are secondary, and that the focus instead be shifted to looking at some of the issues with the game that people have endlessly pointed out on these forums, and that includes bugs, tweaks, fixes and enhancing existing features.
One thing I would like, though, is a little "report" on how well each player performs during your matches, to compliment that 1-10 rating. This way you'd be able to see what it was about his performance that was sub-standard/average/good etc. For example, was your left-back who only managed a 5 poor by his own merit, or was he just grossly outclassed by an opponent etc?
A set piece editor would be a good addition, but, it would also greatly increase the possibility that you can make a set piece that can exploit weaknesses in the match engine, guaranteeing a goal everytime. I think a lot of work would need to be done on it so that it's much harder to exploit weaknesses before it is included.
I think SI should just concentrate on getting FM "Working" totally, as bug-free as possible, before adding a whole host of new ideas in.
They've added more "New Features!" with each release and with that comes more and more bugs, and then more "Whining Threads"... Add infinitum.
New Features + Bugs X Whining threads = Vicious circle.
