It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Some Tactics To Try Despite Me Thinking Game is ****

Despite me thinking the game is a load of Jamie Pollocks I am gonna upload some tactics for testing as maybe its just my football genius (Being the best Championship Manger of all time) doesnt run with the Football Manager game!!

Am currently in 1st season (again) trying my new tactics.

Middlesbrough
W9 D7 L9 GS41 GA39 Position 8th
Boro

Darlo
W11 D13 L7 GS34 GA26 Position 7th
Darlo

Hartlepuddle
W18 D6 L7 GS54 GA30 Position 1st
Hartlepuddle

York
W20 D5 L5 GS63 A22 Position 1st
York City

Scarborough
W19 D4 L4 GS52 GA22 Position 2nd
http://www.fmdownloads.net/index.php...ename=Scarboro Scarborough Nov 2006.tac&directory=FM 2007/Tactics&

You may think looking at the positions of Hartlepool, York & Scarborough I shouldnt think the game is unrealistic but i have a far superior team than others in the league, its the fact that suddenly after i have been taking the **** in the league results have gone to ****, thats what is getting me annoyed and the fact that i am the greatest champ manager of all time the game is defying me and not allowing me to win the the league with the mighty Boro (2nd best finish in season 1).

Please feel free to evaluate my tactics and will like to hear comments and why i am not the super power i should be!!

Are you trying to use on tactic over a season in all situations? That could be one problem right there.

My point is if your good enough ie like a Brazil you name your name and play the same way challenging teams to beat you this game lets you work that way, then suddenly you cant win for love nor money its unrealistic you do occasionally expect to get beat every now and again but this game seems to think your doing to well lets see what you think when your 5-0 down at half time, its just silly to put it in a basic sense, dont get me wrong I seem to be doing well with some of the tactics but too well according to the "AI" in the game as it decides to put me on a win less streak as I am cruising too much in the league, which in all truth i should be cruising with Hartlepool as they are the best team in the division especially with the astute signings i made.

Hmm...it appears that, despite some average finishes, you think a lot of yourself.

My first suggestion is to ignore your own hype, and try and work out WHY things aren't going your way.

Firstly, you haven't completed a single season in any of those games. Why??

Secondly, what are you doing when things suddenly become difficult? Are you looking to see what the opposition are doing to negate your threat. Have you bothered making little ammendments to your own tactics to get through the rut.

You've got to remember that when a team performs well, the opposition will be more wary of their threats, and look to counter them. This season, you can look at Villa. The last team in England to suffer a defeat in the league; and then they ended up on a run of 19 games with only 2 wins. Similarly, Luton were flying high in the championship after about 8 games, and now look where they are. Just because you start well doesn't mean you are going to consistently perform well throughout the season.

Finally, you're point about Brazil would be fair when talking about Hartlepool, and Scarborough, who are by far the best teams in their respective leagues, but not so relevant for teams like Middlesbrough.

I dont mean to disrespect any of the tactical geniuses on here who have come up with great tactical theories which enable you to become a winning side as long as you dont mind constantly tinkering with your tactics, but I have found out that if you get your team playing to one set of tactics and just stick to it no matter how badly you do, you will eventually begin winning when your team finally gets used to it.

I came on here a few months ago completely ****ed off with not being able get any success. I was basically told by the helpful people who replied to my post, that the key was to be patient and not constantly tinker with my tactics. I play an attacking mentality game at home and change it to normal when im away from home against a reasonably strong side and have been successful ever since. I nearly always underachieve in the first season but improve in the second season before I eventually begin to dominate.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not exactly delighted that I have to wait for over a season before I stop banging my head against my computer desk but its quite pleasing when your team eventually starts to dominate.

So just set up a tactic, alter it slightly for away matches and give your team a chance to get used to it and the results will come. They have for me anyway. Apologies for the long post.

I will happily try your tactics as I am desperate to attain a mid-table finish with Middlesboro. Such a thing is next to impossible!

How on earth did you do it????

Cant ignore my own hype its over 2 decades of football management games and glorious success has made me this way

Ive played 3 seasons max before the game pi$$es me off then I think I will start again with a new tactic with new vigour and determination to defeat the evil SI "AI"

I tinker with the tactics when things go wrong but this seems to hinder the teams even more, do even switch to another tactic for a number games trying to con the "AI" before reverting back to orginal tactic.

wwfan to answer your question I normally buy Modric, Tudor, Eddie Johnson and Rolan Gusev on a free and go from there, is normally a few other signings but i buy them for making money such as Doudin who costs next to nothing but in a previous game had Chelsea offering £9 mill for him in the second season despite hardly playing him. If you sell a few players which seems hard for me to offload Boro's deadwood I buy Cesar Delgado as well. Was 4th in league on the game and in now but as its gone wrong have slipped down the league.
