hi peeps.

i have started a game in conferance south so i have no money and no team and not much chance of getting good players.

so i looked at my players and some of them are rubbish in there natural positions but would be better in other positions.

so ive set some players on re-training to other positions, does anyone else do this and does it work ????

and how long does it take to re-train a player position ?

expect them to be able to play in the new position, IMO competent and upwards, in about 6-18 months, if they still has not reached competent after 18 months don't bother retraining them anymore as they have really low versatility and will essentially be as hard to retrain as it is to start a volvo on a cold morning.

young players learn a position MUCH faster. Since in england you can only put 5 on the bench (which I find rather ridiculous) I always retrain and make sure to have plenty of versatility (even in the PRM).

My tip... use preseason for that. if you got about 10 preseason games, put the players in the position for as long as possible that you want to retrain them for (they wont learn without being assigned to learn the new position btw). From experience... it works better using a player for 90mins every 2nd game than for 45mins every single game.

BUT on the other hand, if you use heavy preseason training, I would not recommend playing more than 45mins for a player, just let htem have games every 3-4 days. By time the season starts several of your players will be reasonably useable in their new position (if their versatility "skill" allows them to learn fast enough).

From experience I have to say it goes much much faster than 6 months minimum... approx. 2 months with plenty of games will do for a versatile youngster
