Creative Freedom: I set ALL my attacking players' creative freedom pretty high 14-18, FBs 13-15 DM 12-15 and DCs low. I give the GK fair amount of freedom too. This a real key as creative freedom gives players the "freedom" to roam outside of the static formation. You do NOT get flowing, inspirational team football without creative football. Paradoxically, if you have lots of players (who have good teamwork, off the ball and positioning) on high creative freedom, they will also cover for each other DEFENSIVELY.

Free Roles: I NEVER start with a player on a free role. I often give one or both SCs free roles when playing against an ultra defensive tactic and push an AMC on a farrow into the box. I also often put a AMC on a free when chasing a goal, but this is also not my preferred tactice (I prefer to play without an AMC).

Counter Attacking

Focus passing down both wings

Passing: mixed, with EVERYONE set on mixed through balls (FBs and Wingers with low crosses may be high through balls)

Tempo: Fairly quick

Width: Farily wide

Playmeker: NO PLAYMAKER! NEVER EVER! It disrupts the natural flow of a running, counter attacking team.

no worries bout the tactic....

i play a 4321 with playmaker and target man, balls to run on to for tm. both wingers switching. very attacking fullbackd 2 dm in the centre and one am. overall 17-18 att, 7-9 passing 16-18 tempo, 6-8 defensive line, play down both wings with lots of through balls.
for me target man is the best because it is very adaptable, deep or fast defence=balls to feet, slow or high defence = balls for Roon to run on to.

not the real utd tactic but unbeaten after 34 league games of 1st season ( and those blue ******* are still only 1 pt behind!!)

Nistelrooy_is_back, that is what I am attempting but dominic seems to want to just create a match winning tactic, obviously that is what I am trying to do, but I want it to be as realistic as possible, so free-roles are a necessity.

I am not using this thread as a thread to discuss how we can change it drastically, as it won't be the same tactic as real life, I still want people to come up with ideas, but as long as you know and have seen how Utd have played irl, and can then implement that in fm.

I have tweaked your tactice a bit emre and its been workign awesome so far not just in results but the type of football they play only 4 games into my test so far so will test moe be4 mentioning the tweaks.
