The players don't have set prices so you'll just have to bid low and increase until it is accepted.

Adriano can be bought for around 10 mil at the very start of the game.

As arsenal iv'e had a bid of 18 mil rejected for Nasri, and 16 mil rejected for Micah.

I got Owen for 14mil

I doubt that there's a secret release clause - it is probably more the fact that Newcastle feel they have enough depth to replace a player who, in the past, is constantly surrounded by media speculation and recurring injury!
