Hello,

I'm just starting my first game on FM08 with the only team I ever manage - Arsenal.

I have a fairly simple couple of questions for people that've played as Arsenal further into the match as me.

I've had £7.5million offer for Denilson, which I have rejected. I want to use him as Cesc's direct backup, CM role in a 4-1-4-1 formation.

I have started retraining Diaby to be a straight ball-winning DM.

Flamini has been poor in my friendlies in the DM role, and has been by far the worst of my DM's.

I have Diarra down as my Carling Cup DM and cover at RB.

I have bought Zapater cos I liked the look of his stats and at 22 and £7million seemed a good choice.

So, Flamini may well be sold. Diarra will probably spend most of his season in the reserves. Same for Diaby, whilst he retrains as a DM. Zapater is my first choice DM, with Gilberto as back up. And Denilson is Cesc's understudy.

So basically, does all that sound about right? Can Denilson be used as Cesc's understudy? Flamini is rubbish on 8.0.1? Diaby can retrain as DM, Zapater is a quality choice?

On to your queries. Firstly, Denilson. A very good player and you should definitely keep him. I'm not sure if you should have him as Cesc's understudy though. There are other better choices. But Denilson is good as a DM just behind Cesc. Links up well with Cesc. See if you can get Ever Banega. He's a brilliant little player and is more suited to being Cesc's understudy. Cheap at the start too at about 3-4M.

You should look to get rid of Diaby at some point. He's a good player but never quites develop into a great player. Good all-round stats, but not brilliant at any one thing. And since you've bought Zapater, he's definitely not needed anymore. Zapater is a good player but I dont like him as a DM personally because he's not that great at tackling & marking. But a good player none-the-less.

Flamini is sadly not anywhere close to being as good as irl. The game came out before people started seeing Flamini this year. So thats to blame I suppose. Diarra turns out into a solid DM without being exceptional. He'll be fine as Zapater's backup. Although I'm not keen on keep the little tit because of his recent antics irl!!

But yeah. Get Banega for sure. The guy becomes phenomenol in a few years. Check out the Arsenal thread for more ideas of what people are doing. Good luck. :thup:
