This never happened to me on FM07 but am in first season with Liverpool on FM08 and has already happened twice - Sissoko for £10.5 million and Babel for £21 million. Gillett has stepped in and accepted bids as he beleives it's too good to turn down.
Does everybody else get this happening alot - I'm playing on patch 8.0.1 btw.
Also, any recommendations fro an AMR who could also play as ST if necessary (I play 4-3-2-1 formation but the 2 AMs are very much like strikers). I already have Gyan but wouln't mind some cover.
Yes that happens many times unfortunately. You can do two things to counter it, neither of which is guaranteed:
1. Put a ridiculously high asking price for the player and that'll hopefully put off some teams atleast.
2. When the bid is accepeted by the chairman, you offer the player another contract with a higher salary and a better role and pray that he chooses to stay.
As for an AMR who can also play as a striker, give Gonzalo Higuain a go. He's terrific.
in my leeds game, after the first season, the chairman sold bogdan stancu for 5mil euros...he scored something like 44 goals in 54 games and was the player around I created my leeds project...
I agree this is a pain. I've been enjoying my game at Benfica, but at the end of the year my chairman accepted bids of £13m for Breno, £9m for Stancu and £17.5m for Vagner Love - all had only been with me for a year but were regarded as the best players. The club had absolutely no reason to sell though, I had £25m in the bank. They also only gave me a £12m transfer budget.
I can almost understand it with Benfica, but as one of the biggest teams in Portugal I thought the board would be ambitious enough to back me for an assault on Europe!
Now the fans are disappointed about the sale of the players too and there is continued media pressure on me.
I can't understand it with Liverpool though, or other stories of clubs like Man U, Chelsea & co accepting bids. It seems a bit silly really.
