Season 2007/2008: Segunda División – Benidorm C. D

I let the peevy left winger leave on a free (his bad vibes are too much for me) and sign only four players: because that’s all the scout recommends.

Another awful start to life in the second league, although better than last time around. It soon becomes apparent that there are only two teams much worse than me, and about four within touching distance. My über-striker of last season develops a shocking case of barndooritis and only hits the target twice in the first 30 games of the season. Unfortunately, I have no-one in the squad willing to take his mantle, and no-one wants to sign for us (still semi-pro, despite having £8m in the bank).

A mini-resurgence at the end of the season, (5W 1D 1L) but no disguising the inevitable: another relegation from D2. Good news, though: we’ve upgraded the training facilities and are now fully pro: decent players now want to sign for us!
