Default Wage Budget

I have a recurring problem, I can't stop exceeding the wage budget for my life.

I just started a new game and with a healthy budget of 2100K I thought I could sort this out. But no, here I sit in the second season and I'm 50% over the now respectable amount of 2700K/week.

Before this season I gave myself permission to go over the budget by 10%, but all these freebies ruined it for me and I couldn't get rid of even one of the transfer-listed creeps.

It's possible I restart and try again...

But what is your take as LLM managers on wage budgets and such. Should one stick to it and not exceed it with one penny or is it just to give it a go and see if you survive?

Wait 'til I dust off my cliché manual....

My take on the subject is this.

Ask the Board to upgrade the Stadium, what do they say?

"You look after the Team, we'll look after the cash"

Try to sign a player...are you allowed? Do you have funds available to pay a signing on fee? Wages?

If they were making you stick to the budget then the wages and signing on fees wouldn't be available.

If the Board don't like my spending...sack me.

Don't worry about it. In my opinion the wage budget doesn't really exist. I am always over it by a long shot. I thought maybe it was just me, but then I noticed that every job I got offerred had transfer money to burn, but the "wages needed to be brought under control." I recently jumped ship to Crystal Palace in my save game and they were about 40k over a week. The board didn't start threatening me till I had them 120k over a week. Sold two players and now I'm only 75k over and they've stopped whinging.

With Watford I'm £150k over the wage budget now I've been relegated. Sure I'm losing £600k a month, but the board just seem to say the wage bill is very high and it needs rectifying.

I'm happy with that, I'll do sweet FA about it.

What the jock mod bloke said. As the manager we worry about the players, the board worries about the money, if they keep paying I keep buying them.

I tend to look the wage budget as if it was a kind of guideline.

Wage budget + transfer kitty is the money I take care of. If I don't do any signing I don't give a fukc whether I'm above or below what the board say.

On the other hand, If I've blown my transfer kitty I sure pay more attention to where does my weekly budget lay.

(PS: drunk managing on a Sunday afternoon can cause serious damage to your transfer budget+wage budget. Don't try it at home unless you're under the guidance of someone who's sober, lads. )
