Attributes shouldn't be the guiding star, but certainly in the picture. Based on attributes my current ML should be a garbageman or something, but he's pumping assists like there was no tomorrow. It's quite strange really. Then you can buy what looks like a starplayer based on attributes, and the guy can't hit a barnwall from a foot away. It just makes the game more interesting, and more realistic tbh. Even the best managers make horrible buys, but they have the resources, so it's not such a big deal. Fork out for a player in the lower leagues that turns out to be carp, and you're in serious trouble.

This is getting a bit too close to tipping for my taste. We all have our little quirks in how we play the game, some focus on attributes others don't. Main thing is succeeding or failing on your own merit.

No problem.
Just needed to stress that there is no right or wrong way to decide if you want to buy a player, as long as your scouts were involved in the process.

Isn't that a little "thin"? They shouldn't just be involved in the process, they should find them in the first place. I've seen many a good player I've wanted to sign, but as I was just checking out match reports or whatever, I couldn't as my scout did not point me in the direction of the lad.
Or is this zealot LLM?

Not necessarily, Pangaea. There'll always be mitigating circumstances where your scouts don't "find" players (eg players who perform well against you in a game, or news items about players). What we insist upon is that any player is assessed by your scouts (eg a cente forward bags a hat-trick against you in a game, you want to check him out further, so you send a scout out to give you an evaluation).

Yes, I agree with that. But if you for instance is checking out a team, and notice what looks like a good player. Then send your scout to look at him. That's wrong in my book. One could say the scout have been in action, but that it's against the "rules". I know this isn't what donald ment with that comment, but wanted to raise the point nevertheless.

Yes you are right. There has to be a realistic reason for noticing the player (news, game played against you, scout discovery, etc). Seeing a player with good stats when browsing through teams is a no-no.

Well, involved in the process means they scouted the damn player. However, if I play against a team and an opposing player makes an outstanding performance I'd feel silly not sending my scout to check up on him.
That said, I agree with you that there is no reasonable excuse for checking out a random team manually and then send your scouts to look at the players you might want.
You're right though, my comment might have been slightly vague. Not gonna happen again |
