Out of interest, what are the biggest name signings you've completed as a Lower League Manager?

I recentley started a game with Southampton, (give me a moment), which unforetunately ended with my sudden departure at the end of the first January after seeing them soundly into the relegation zone. (They ended up relegated, but promoted immediately after I arranged for Batman and Robin to join on Bosman's, as well as The Joker and The Penguin already being part of the club.)

I declared my interested in the Bristol Rovers job and the manager was thus sacked and the job offered to me. I took Rovers from 18th to 3rd and automatic promotion in 15 games. What took me my surprise was the number of 'known' players that signed for me once I hit League One, especially a certain striker. I signed Brad Pitt, Sean Connery, Jamie Cullum and low and behold, The Archangel Gabriel on free transfers. Now, The Archangel Gabriel for me is quite possibly the biggest signing I've ever made as a FM player since I started playing 10 years ago.

That year I kept Rovers, Relegation Favourites btw, in 2nd position for the entirity of the season untl the last game, where after some abysmal form I lost out to of all clubs, Bristol City for automatic promotion. I went on to lose to Doncaster in the play-off semis, after a 5-2 loss away and a stalemate at home. The poor end of season form probally came from my lack of rotation, despite having a resoundingly big squad for the league.

I've just hit mid-July, the beginning of my third season and already have signed Franz Ferdinand , (A former 3 month loan signing, Rovers became one of his favoured clubs.) The Riders of Rohan for 1.2 million, which damn near made me bankrupt =/ Merry , Pippin and Frodo as coaches though the choice of player was available. A number of good young foreigners have also joined the club, as well as my home grown talent.

Anyone else find it surprisingly easy to sign bigger names? Or does this have to do with their ageing? I still can't ever imagine The Archangel Gabriel coming to Rovers. =/

My scout, whom I employ to scout players before even [i]considering[/] signing a player has never found a player bigger than XXX XXS(exception being a certain goalie who doesn't qualify for XXS). So I have no idea what you are on about.

General Questions.

Just having a bit of fun btw. While you're in here stick around for a bit. Read the header and the stickies, who knows LLM might be for something you'd like

It most likely will, I only manage in the Lower Leagues, I hate having so much money, I prefer my bargain hunts. ^_^
