Yeah, blatant remake of Taip's topic back some months.

You all know the basics.

Playing with Nuneaton and after some seasons one of my scouts bumps into this spotty teenager. He's 16 and a DLC and the scout tells me he's the next best thing.

Weird, I thought. Despite being an ace scout he had been dead for the last 8 months, only reporting 'players that have no future' (wrong assessment due to the reputation increase I know, I know...).

I decide to take the scout's advice and splash £30k on the lad. His club accept my offer and he's with us since then (basically 2 months ago).

Now, my surprise comes when starting preseason fixtures and because of the injury of my backup DL I decide to give him some minutes in a friendly. We play said match against Premiership side Birmingham and we scrape a 2-1 victory with the lad playing the last 30 minutes as leftback and doing frankly well for one so young.

The minute the match ends we start receiving faxes into the club's offices: Some 5 League One clubs make either seasonal or 3 months laon offers for the lad. Norwich and Leyton Orient (Champioship clubs) want the lad on loan for the season. Q.P.R (Premiership as well) want him on loan for 3 months and Man Citeh surprise me with a £850k offer :eek:

Needless to say I'm quite pleased and when I go to check his profile I find myself with the oddity of having a 16 yo player who is worth what my best player is and 4x what my second best player is.

All I'm praying for now is that October 16th comes as fast as possible and that the lad accepts the professional contract I have ready for him. This and that Man Citeh backs from my £25m counteroffer and nobody poaches him from me.

Out of interest, what kind of level was said 16yo acne-infestation playing at when your scout recommended him - or was he a regen free?

The scout found him at some non-league club (Conf N IIRC but I'll check it at home). Appeared in the game in the 2007/08 season update.

Finding those gems is almost as rewarding as winning that damn promotion after years of struggle. Strange but true.

Strange that Man City made a transfer bid for him, rather than just offering him a contract. I always get my decent youth players stolen, and for some reason, I never get any compensation. Ever.

try Paul Willis from liverpool on a free once you start up the game. I had him for 4 weeks as Oxford Utd then managed to sell him for £1.5m!! Sorted my cash problems out!
