What is the ruling with regards to this list of loan players? Have they been discovered by a scout or is this the sole use for the transfer list?

As for the original question, it completely depends on my team and the circumstancies. If I do badly need a defender and don't have the dosh to sign one I'll probably start looking my longlist for loan listed defenders and will most likely try to land one or two of those.
In my last save I've had the very same defender loaned to me for the season during the last 3 seasons before raising the money to finally sign him.
On the other hand, I've had saves in which I didn't need a single loan for all the career.
| Okay I’m calm I’m calm. Just need my FM fix, didn’t get it last night (Or the other either) and as it isn’t even lunchtime over here . I have to wait about 7 hours before indulging. Clocks go back this weekend, Extra hour of FM .

| Each to their own. A lot of players go on loan to lower league clubs IRL in the UK though, so I have no problem with signing them where required.

| I used to just look for loan players on the transfer list and tell the scout to look at them. Now I prefer not to loan players at all. But others say the scout has got to find him completely on his own, no nudging him in the right direction.

I usually only look at my longlist. However, if we have a heavy enough injury crisis and my scouted players aren't fit to cover that spot and I don't have the players to cover that I'd use my assman recommendations on that.
But, hey! I'm the weirdo that scouts a player three or four times on an extended period before considering making a bid.

Just started a game with B/stoke and sent the scout out immediately, I was amazed when after less that 2 weeks he had 7, 5 star players for me. 3 of then were not in a club. Assman said the look good so that was enough for me, on the dotted line son. Once I go through my initial binge buying I do tend to be a lot more circumspect when it comes to getting players in.

I have a weird ritual when signing players which I always follow no matter what.
I scout them, then trial them and start them in 1 or 2 games and then when they go back if im still not sure i scout them again.
Also I have my scouts search for player at the start of the season valued at $0 and they bring back a lot of transfer listed players i keep on a shortlist named Loanees.
I just had a small question regarding signing players on fm 2006,is it possible to sign players on short term contracts

My ritual involves scouting a player, completely ignoring my useless scout's recommendation, checking how much the cheeky bugger asks for, completely ignoring my useless assistant manager's opinion, and finally if he's crazy enough to want less money than I can afford I'll sign him because almost anything is better than my current crop of players.

My ritual involves dancing naked around a fire, praying to the almighty God(s) and hoping my drunk, useless and overpaid scout with binary attributes finally pulls his stinking finger off his fat arse and finds me a midfielder with half a leg more than the rest of the team - i.e, half a leg in total.

| Long injury lists. The story of my life. I usually end up having to loan some random off my extra long short list. Put in 20 loan bids and usually get one who will come. I hate league players. So up themselves, they'd rather sit and play in the reserves at Scunthorpe than play first team football at Worcester. Ignorant fools. I hope they never succeed.
Would like to know, as pointed out earlier, if you can sign players on short term contracts, or better still, rolling contracts on FM2006. Anyone?
