I've had exactly the same in the czech swcond div.

Have no money, and the stupid feckers recommend players that are £100k+.

New team i'm at though, most are freebies being scouted . With binary attributes

Goncalo, I can't see how your approach to the game can be considered ethical. You are basically bypassing your scout when finding players. It's no different to using the player search option and looking at their club history in my eyes.

The accepted methods of player searching is with scouts. Either they find them, or you send them out to double check that kid who put 5 goals past you in your previous game...
I beg to differ. My earlier quote was taken from the LLM Guidelines. It says "less scrupulous LLaMas" use the transfer screen to identify released players and then scout then, which in turn means that this approach is not acceptable for zealots but still LLM. What he did is pretty much the same thing.
Now I don't think it's ethical either, but unless we rewrite the guidelines we shouldn't point the finger.
And sizzling wizzle's post was just inappropriate and had that foul stench of sycophancy.

And I suppose <u>you</u> consider yourself a regular, entitled to speak for the whole community, right?

Whatever, I don't want to stat a flame war. I had a doubt, my doubt is cleared, and I had an interesting exchange of opinions with many of the members. I still have some doubts concerning some details in LLM rules, but I'll wait for the guidelines to become available instead of posting new topics. As for the couple of polite oddballs who seem to believe are the spokepersons for a whole community, enjoy yourselves :p

I'm sorry if I caused any trouble. Since my doubt is cleared, please feel free to lock this topic if you find it convenient.

Dale (you're making a few appearances lately considering you've been conspicuous in your absence over the past months), speaking as the guy who authored the guideline...you American guys have a problem with the old Eye-ron-ee, don't you?

The term "less scrupulous LLaMas" is a tongue-firmly-embedded-in-cheek comment which actually means "some cheating b*st*rds"

The biggest problem is that irony doesn't work on the majority of newbies who post here either....

It's like the term "really pushing it". Some guys term that as just acceptable when up here it means moving ever closer to a good slap on the coupon

IRL there's two things that are missing from FM that managers have to use. The first is the released list, available from the PFA on a certain date (I'm not sure of it offhand) every season, which lists every player that's a member of the PFA and was released at the end of the last season. You should then be able to invite such players along for trials without having to actually find them yourselves.

The second, which if you ask me is more important still, is that players approach lower league clubs pretty much daily for trials. I know at Hendon we get hundreds if you include the later youth sides. Mostly, you can leave them to your youth/reserve side managers to look at, but occasionally someone with a decent CV that you want to look at comes along. Most seasons each Conf North/South/Ryman/... side will pick up a couple of players in this way as well.

While these aren't in the game yet, they're valid steps to an improved game for both the LLM and generally. Sadly, scouts are the closest thing we've got yet

:o I blame the <STRIKE>language</STRIKE> culture barrier. I was already wondering about the loose definition.
