Took over Basingstoke (17 players initially on the squad I think) sent the scout out and then went signing crazy. Well he must have recommended around 100 “excellent players” and a good 30 of those were freebies so between the scout my assman and my own judgement I have already signed 18 new players and have another 7 lined up all on free transers. Okay so the truth is I knew I was signing a lot of players but I was too busy dabbeling with training and pre season friendlies to bother keeping track of just how many newbies I was signing, yes, I know it is only a couple of button clicks away. So with the remainder of my freebies coming on board I think my wages will be around 7000 with the board only allowing 4500.
However I am now starting to feel as if what I did was grossly unrealistic and contemplating starting a new game (I have only been playing the game for less than a month so starting a new game is not a problem). I don’t think in any previous version of the game I have signed more than 10 players in reseason hunting. I think I will not have a problem culling the squad and thereby getting the wages under control.
There are I suppose two way I can look at this, I have made my bed so must sleep in it. Or it was rediculous to sign that many players start a new game. Any thoughts?
Keep going with it. As long as they were scouted etc.
Can't say it's unrealistic because if you got the job in real life you'd prob make loads of signings as well. Its your club do with it what ever you want.

How good are your scouts? I have 2 scouts employed and I sent one around England and one around Scotland but after 5 months, they found about 5 players each, and they were all crap.

Scout was crap but he certainly seemed to find enough players, And his so called 5 star players leave a lot to be desired but definately the guys I have signed appear to be better than most of he guys I have. I am guessing that my first 11 will be nade up of
3 original squad and 8 is newbies... Time will tell.
I opted for a huge database and inported English players. The only league I'm running are the 6 english legues.
I know this is a bit techy for this forum but how many leagues are you guys running, and what spec is your machine. I have 500MB/Ram anf 50GB on the hard drive.
I'm running all the English leagues and then the top leages from Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Holland and Scotland. I have a P4 3.2GHz CPU, 1Gb RAM and a 250Gb hard drive.
Ignore the fact that the "retain players from" option is generally frowned upon round these parts, I would have thought the fact that you are using a huge database would have made this redundant.

What size DB are you running? You should run Huge with that spec macking... Is the Basingstoke scout hat good??? As far as I remember he has 10's for judging player ability and his reputation is unknown.
