| I hadn't seen that "retain players from" was frowned upon. That could explain why my scout is going mental.
I though this option was better to opick for longer careers, 20 years and beyond.

I would have suggested doing a search on retain players, but it appears to be broken.

Mkus, you have been about these parts, for a considerable time, can I get some input from you on what I should be selecting.
The basic career I want to run is about 30+ years of so getting Basingstoke to the premiership or sacked (not accepting any job offers) , Obviously I will need to run all the English league, for 20 odd years down the road I might need the help of some foreigners so I was going to run Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, top league only. Don’t know how much more you need other than the 250 MB/ram about 50GB on the hard drive..
Can I run a huge DB and that many league or would the machine grind to a halt… Seems to be fine running Huge with just the 6 leagues (Though I have only been running it for 3 weeks!)… Any help greatly appreciated.

I'd highly recommend investing in some RAM. A Giga of DDRRAM @400MgHz would do wonders if you're planning on a 20+ seasons career.

Blimey, I've only been registered 3 months longer than you. No idea about setup, what is acceptable to one person in terms of speed might be unbearable for another.
My understanding is that if you run a league on a huge database, retaining players from that nation is not necessary. Personally, if you are going to play in a UK league I would always load the other Home Nations.
Retaining players is frowned upon because (in FM05 at least) it completely disrupts the balance of player nationalities.

| I was originally registered I think back in 2000 but forgot my user id and Password so set myself up again in 2003. FM05 was the first of the Champ man series I didn’t get since I Championship Manager 2. Now that I have FM06 it's like learning the game all over again. 
So I could be arsed withrunning the European teams so long as the regens gork okat with a huge DB, ofcourse we really won't get to see the how well they are working for 10 years
