| Have to agree with prophetboy, I ONLY ever comment on offside decisions, and even then I don't always get them right!
But a 3D engine isn't necessary to provide us the information, perhaps in the post-match comments section rather than commenting on key players performance, the in-game 'Lineker' or whoever could say something along the lines of 'Wolfsburg were hard done by today, TV replays show that was no way a penalty'

The day FM has a match graphics engine like the one suggested will be a sad day.
For me and I'd say for most true CM now FM fans who have been there for the long haul, the game is not about it looking like FIFA or some other equally s**t game. It's all about the stats and figures. I never use the game engine, and never will.

This 2d match engine is the closest you can get at showing matches that look like real football. 3d engines always dissapoint in that aspect.
I don't need cosmetic changes for the game, i just want a game thats as realistic as possible, and this means.... the engine as it is.

Something such as this should definately be the next step forward for FM. It would certainly add to the element of realism that SI continually strive for and would be much easier to implement than a full blown 3D match engine. The format will have to change at some point, why not start now?
| 100% agree
did anyone suggested here FIFAM3d !! we are all talking CM titled view

The 2D match engine is absolutely PERFECT for tactics...
Want to know if your defense is holding a tight defensive line? Have a quick glance at the screen.
Want to know if your midfield are getting up to support your target man? Have a quick glance at the screen.
Want to know if your team are being pressed back by the opposition? Have a quick glance at the screen.
And if you want to know if a player is as skilfull as Ronaldinho then:
1. Look at his stats
2. Look at the breakdown of his performance from the match - this gives you passes attempted/completed, key passes, dribbles made/completed, key dribbles, shots attempted/on target, tackles attempted/completed etc etc etc.
What exactly would a 3D match engine add which isn't already there?
| 1- imagine i have new player !! i have most importnat match of the year, and have to play him becasue of injuries, and have mo stats on him, do u expect me to lose the game then watch his statss after that !! to know if he is good or not ?
2- u forget that skills are not having same effect in each action, like jumping may work in heading more than antciaption, or may be not,... u only can test that during the match, and the match don't tell u in each action if ball been headed or hit his head by accident and refelcted !! this is why peope stil larguning which skils are improtnat for jumping for exemple.
3- as i said this stats shows quantity and not quality, it dosn't make a differnce between a normal shot on goal and another which a player has to turn around and fly to shoot it.
4- this stats is not enough, as they are basic, and it existe in any match in RL, and managers can buy the SUN and read it, but they use another tool which is called PROZONE or MAT to anlasye those matchs and not those basic stats u were mentioning.

I think it is too hard to get it right.
You would have to capture a multitude of different 3D motions. After a while you would see the same vision repeatedly.
They are already having trouble getting the match engine working perfectly. So I think it is better to focus on perfecting that.
I think eventually there be slight improvements to the 2D graphics. So that you have a better idea what the circle is doing.

As you can see there aren't any legs or arms and to show the level of detail you're talking about a graphically intensive match engine (i.e. FIFA/Pro Evo style) would be required.
