When can we expect better graphics (match engine)???? Post #11 | | Registered User

Think the match engine is great.
A defender tackles and he pauses for a second as he gets himself composed.
You get delightfull little bursts of pace , off and on the ball, usually has me shouting " Go on son "
You get ball watching
You get the guy holding the ball up and looking for options
I think full graphic sexualness would just ditract.
I find the blobs perfect for what they are doing and easy to read.
Sure you dont see the little left right foot switch, but then why waste time coding that when things seem pretty decent already !

The match engine is sublime, tweak it by all means but 2d is ok imo, lets face it flashing text sufficed for 15 years or so and were we happy? you bet your nelly we were!

Persoanally not that fussed about the graphics.
Although I'd always loved the idea of a FM/Sensible Soccer hyrbid.

hah hah. i laugh at anyone who says better graphics would distract from the game. laughable. the original poster is talkin of slightly improved graphics,... only slightly better. circles are just archaic for me.
sure you can tell when there is a change of pace, etc. but you've gotta try thinking vertically (cliche i know). only then you realize what you're missing. even if si uses 3d stick figures for the sake of giving the manager a better/more realistic view of the pitch, it would be appreciated.

The only benefit being able to see 'skillful players' would have is making YouTube videos more interesting to look at.
If I can't see that my strikers are doing anything worthwhile, then they probably aren't. Step-overs and tricks are only useful when there's an end product. FM models that very well: Dribbles, Key Passes, Assists and Goals. If there's none of that, your player is rubbish. End of.
3d stick figures would be a terrible idea. And frankly, for the information the OP is looking for, you'd have to model a full working skeleton for them which is a whole lot more work. The circles are fine.

same apply for left or right foot
or a pass coming from foot or head or chest or simply it touched his arm, or his body by accident.
all this info 2d engine don't show them
and we need a replay at any time to analsye an action as they are so fast, and 2d is not enough, like to tell which foot he used. but a replay may show it
i mean a reapl ywhen we want not the automatic goal replay

| Sure a move from the current 3D to full working 3D is only a "very slight" change in graphics
I am quite happy with 2D and would not get anything more out of 3D. It would certainly detract from the game as it would cause the game to run far slower unless you have a really top end machine. I don't see it happening as SI know that sales would be down because most people's PC's simply couldn't handle it.

the only complain i have is when the media ask me about penalty or red cards.. i mean, how can i know whether it's legitimate when i can't even see the real "action".. so yeah, i hope there will be improvement in the graphics one day..

3D would be awful. It would take so much away from the game. If you want to know if a player is skillful, look at his stats, its all there.
