So i was basically wondering, what stats determine how well an AI manager uses the transfer market? I assume that judging both a players ability and potential would come into it, but is there anything else? Should there be a "Transfer Nous" type stat that determines how well a manager can haggle with the clubs he wants do business with ( a la Harry Redknapp ) and how well he copes with the demands of the player he wants to sign? Thoughts, Opinions and Suggestions welcome

There was a hidden attribute called 'buying players' on 07. Not sure if it's in 08 though.
Judging player ability as well I am certain comes into it. Although I have wondered if AI managers have to rely on scouts like us.

Do you mean what contract the player wants? I don't know the inner workings of the game but just based on experience AI managers evaluate players and offer them contracts relative to this evaluation. It's the only logical explanation I can think of as to why I got a centre half to join my newly promoted Leeds team as opposed to Arsenal, as I offered him 'Key Player' status and they probably offered him a lower status.
I have to say the one thing that bugs the hell out of me in this game is how good the AI managers are at haggling. I have yet to see an AI manager require more than 2 bids before having an offer accepted. I have lost alot of players because while I've been negotiating the guy has already signed for an AI team who got it to a reasonable price with half the effort. A price, I might add, that if I offer it gets rebuked

I think some of this may be down to your relationship with the manager of the other club. If they're rivals or the manager has a poor opinion of you then it may prompt them to be less willing to sell players to you.

Check Kipfizh thread (AI Experiment, it's over 20 pages you can't miss it)
I think there's a "management" stat for managers or something like that.

It's definitely mentioned in there. I remember reading it, I know it's long but it's well worth it, the whole experiment gives some responses (and more questions)

It's interesting the way you wrote that. It's like you looked at what I wrote and thought "This guy is a dickhead. People probably hate him in the real world and in the FM world too" and figured I'd ****ed off every other manager in the game .
If no offence was intended, none taken as it gave me a laugh. If offence was intended all I can say is  for the subtlest insult I have seen on these forums in a while.
The manager relations had nothing to do with it. Just start a new game, try to buy Amauri from Palermo and see how easy it is for Lyon to reach the right value.
