ok its very imaginative example but this is the point.
| Totally agree with the above example I wanted to make a similar one!
This might help some people to understand things better..

The lands governed by the Republic of Macedonia were previously the southernmost part of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia. Its current borders were fixed shortly after World War II when the government of the then People's Federal Republic of Yugoslavia established the People's Republic of Macedonia, recognizing the region as a separate nation within Yugoslavia.
The territory which forms today the Republic of Macedonia previously came under a number of different states and former empires. The first recorded state on the territory was the Thraco-Illyrian kingdom of Paionia. Parts of the territory passed to the successive rule of: ancient Macedon (originally centered in today's Greek Macedonia), the Roman Republic, the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Bulgarian Empires, the Serbian Empire and the Ottoman Empire.

I would have guessed that by now the Greeks would have realised that you can't right a wrong with a crusade.
And this thing about the FYR of Macedonia is very much like a crusade and it happened in the middle of a nationalistic urge in eastern Europe in the early 90s that brought about so many wars and pain.
The westerner, at the time and maybe even now, turned his eyes away from this situation and put it down as another nationalistic example of the times.
The thing is that even though the Greeks do feel aggrieved about this they are still doing business with the "Macedonians" to such an extent that their economy is completely dependent on the Greeks.
I myself do not care much about names and I know my history and I'll debate my points across to whoever wants a debate about anything, but FYR of Macedonia does not represent any sort of threat to the Greeks and whatever happens with the dispute over the name then at the end of the day the Greeks are still going to be doing business with them.
I am an idealist and as I don't like borders at all, I see everybody as being "Greek".

Brother, Skopje is a city, and Macedonia is a modern day state, and no one cares how YOU think.

And while we're on the subject, how come the US is the only nation that gets to call its nationals "Americans"? The concept of "America" takes up basically a hemisphere, for Christ's sake!

FIFA recognise the nation as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
For a football game, the argument ends there.

FM isn't about politics, the debate about whether or not the country should be known as Macedonia is irrelevant. The fact is that in the English language this country is called Macedonia, and they speak a language called Macedonian. Whether that fits in nicely with history or with the names in other languages has nothing to do with what it should be called in the English version of a game made in England.
The game should (and does) just reflect the names which actually are used, not the names which some people think should be used - but actually aren't, and mean nothing to the majority of people.
