As topic, Ive always wondered whether its worth playing a less skilled player with high morale rather than my star whos as sick as a parrot.

It seems that morale plays a higher role in FM2008 than in previous versions, IMO.

If your star striker is on low morale, it's worth building him up again. Say you'll give him a rest for a couple of weeks, play him in easy matches or the reserves, be sure to praise him and have faith in his abilities during team talks, and so on.

If playing a less skilled player with high morale, e.g. a youth player, try to ease the pressure during team talks, be less demanding, so that you don't destroy his morale as well.

I will always play a low moral player if he was with high moral players. I wouldnt play a low moral striker on his own but i would play a midfielder if there were others with good moral

It's a real balancing act with morale, form, fitness and ability all being of great importance.

Physical ability, (the right hand column of stats on the player profile page), is of the most importance in my opinion, but it differs depending on what yo are asking individual players to do.

I have 1 position in my team that I know can "carry" a player with poor physical ability. Everywhere else the wheels just come off if I select a player with poor physical stats.
