Hi All
Tore myself away from the game long enough to download some 3d gt kits...now all my english ones have gone random, some too big to show on information screen (I realise this is due to the skin and should work on match days) BUT the championship and premiership ones have reset to the default shirt only jobs.

As theres only League One, Champ and Prem packs available and I've topped up my league 2 and conf etc ones from my 2006 game.

Might it be that my configs have gone wrong due to promotion/relegation? I'm thinking config files here....

Now the Championship and Premiership ones are showing the default shirt only kits even tho I've deleted them and swapped them to the 3d gt kits.
When I look in graphics/pictures/kits etc the 3dgt ones are showing and the config looks fine. Is there a way to delete ALL these kits and reload the skin and clear em out then put the definitely right ones in and reload the skin again?
The National Kits seem to be the same, they default to shirt only even tho they're not in the folder any more.

All my kits transfered over fine.

Have you unticked the 'skin cache' option in the display section of the preferences, and then re-loaded the skin?

Yes mate I have...my only hope now I think is when someone has done packs for all four english leagues then I can bin em off and load all the new ones together.
Dead strange as all other countries are working, just England thats not...

If you add kits from the championship,League one & league two make sure that you delate the other kits that were in the game to start.
You must also delate the config file that is there to.
I would make a back up first.
Any kits or file you download come with there own config file & the ones in the game are not needed.

cheers the littleton coach, yeah I deleted all the folders, in fact the entire Kits folder. Had already backed em up but I know they can be repaired/replaced once deleted by repairing installation from CD.

Am just baffled and can only assume that certain clubs are missing due to new configs and relegations (ie Birmingham not in new premiership one and not in old championship one either, that kind of thing).

BUT it doesnt explain how come all my premier league kits are still default ones even though they arent that way in the kits folder. If they arent there, how can FM be reading the default premiership kits. Where else can they be except data/graphics/pictures/kits/clubs?

Very weird.

And FowlerGod, theres a thought...Paris Hilton created player up front for derby. and the relevant `mouthful' picture applied....the mind boggles

When you download a kit file check to see which teams are there because the config file with it will only be for those kits.
If the team has no kit or config file the game will give that team a default kit.
The best way i find is to delete all of say england kits then download new ones for each league.

Aaaaaaaaaahhh, CRACKED IT!!!! Quite by chance really.
I'd set my User Data folder to D: game saves blah blah so it defaults all my save games, tactics, screenshots, in a place I back up regularly. Also in that folder is where I keep the backups of the kits I've downloaded, with a view to making a WISE install wizard to instal all graphics easily straight to the game, for my mates who are not broadband or PC savvy at all.
The problem was, I'd got a folder in there with a pack of Simply kits and it was only one folder down ie: 0607 shortless/premier, whereas my Ready To Burn pack was havin to search thru data/pictures/kits/clubs/eng before it found my 3dGK kits, so the game was obviously finding my Simply Kits first and using them. I deleted them and voila! Job done.
Probably could have changed the User Data folder back to Default in one click in the game, would have done the same thing I guess.
