spent a few hours last night editing the database, saved it and then tried to start a game with it edited database but cant figure out how to do it.
can someone please help?

When starting a new game it should give you the choice of which database to use.

can I just clarify this? Is there any way of making an edit to the database for an in-flight game?
My current game is in 2009 and I just wanted to make changes to Liverpool to reflect a new stadium and the chance of a takeover. I put the stadium change effective from about the point I was at in the game but it didn't have any effect when I loaded FM again.
I even tried swapping the database files around (putting my edited files in the default location in my SI folders) having moved the default files.
Can this be done, or do I have to start a new game for my edits to be effective?

I am having trouble also with running my edited database. I can not see any option of what database to use.
Can anyone help??

is the setup wizzard turn on in your prefences?
if not turn it on and start a new game

You might have changed the User Data Folder in the game, if that's the case then you need to change it in the eidtor as well, so that the editor can save the new database to the correct folder.

I have saved a new database with editor but cannot find it besides in Editor to load it onto my game- any ideas please? Or how to load it on- where is the default database kept even? Please help!!

I did fiddle with the "User data folder in the game" i thought this was how you were going to change which db to use.
If in the game i go to the preferences and put the user db to dafault then close the game use the editior and resave it will this work ??
What i dont get is when i choose to save what i have edited i can only save it as a name not as a path with a name so that i can find it after.
Bring back the 2006 editor.
