I had a little look around the 7.0.1 editor and I still feel that it is no where near as good a standard as the fm06 editor.

We now have a basic search facility. It would be nice to be able to search for and/or as we could in the previous editor (e.g. search for people born in scotland, england or wales)...

It would also be nice if we could select all filtered players at once so we could enter a detail into all of them. e.g. if someone wanted to create a britain mod for example, then a simple search for all wales, scotland, n.ireland, first nation, (search for first and second seperately would be nice) and then change it for all to england or something.

nation search parameters:

How would I search for non-eu nations or for non-fifa nations? At the moment this is currently impossible due to the checkbox nature of the editor.

team swapping:

It would be nice if the nations automatically changed when entering the league, as they did in 05 and 06...

Where is the Euro co-efficients for european countries?

summary

The editor is in a very very bad shape still. The 06 editor is at least 100 times better than this current build. It will take an awful lot of work in order to get this one working as the old one used to. I personally wonder why on earth SI decided to change a working editor to an editor with basic functions & very bad search and display screens (and very bad display overall).

all in all, the editor is a tool which cannot be used for mods as it could in the days of 05 and 06, it is simply nowhere near powerful enough!

Nah. The buil dof the new editor is better than the old one, the thing that's wrong with the new one is all the missing features, since the probably won't care about finnishing the editor.

Well, I actually like the 'light' version of the editor. I never understood why the editor was such a bloated thing! What I do miss however is ID support in the editor. It's your stuff SI, why isn't it in the editor? In an ideal world I'd like to be able to look up an ID and click on the ID which then gets copied to clipboard so I can use it to rename my file!

I haven't had a single go at the actual game but this thing would be a nice addition!

The mass change function. A necessity, even if there are limitations with this editor, if it makes it possible for a mass edit function I'll be happy.

I'd like it to be able to import and export csv files.. So I can add players and teams a lot quicker.

Also Unique Ids should be displayed in the editor. When creating teams you have to add a player and retain all the players nationality to be able to view the team id.

It may be true that it's still worse than last year's version but 7.0.1 is much better than 7.0.0.

I also liked the FM 2006 editor a lot more because doing databeses for different seasons which i did quite quickly (considering the amount of work that had to be done) seems now a lot harder due to the way the current editor is done.

Is there a way for the field while being selected to delete the previous content of the field? With the previous editor create a player was really quick. The attributes section was just typing the number - tab - number - tab - number - tab.. How can i do that now? unless i want to put a 10 or a 20 there it's impossible and demands a lot more work. If that is still possible to do, then i'm probably missing something.

Other suggestions include to be able to do mass changes/deletions of data. A good possibility was to at least be able to "select all" or the same way of multiple selection that was put on the new fm game (great addition by the way).

Obviously being able to edit more things in the game as has been suggested by everyone. It wouldn't hurt to have the possibility to add edit more areas of the database but i understand some of these things may be hardcoded or something or would be hard to change without affecting the proper working of the game so I understand not many of those areas are available for editing.

Those aspects i mentioned above, though, seem like really easy add-ons to do, and would be really great for those doing massive database changes, and not just adding a couple of players or changing someone's club to the one of their preference.

Haven't installed the patch yet, and the updated editor would have been one if my main reasons for doing so, but on reading comments here, i might out it off a bit more.
The FM06 editor was brilliant, with the only downside that it was slow on lower end machines, but i haven't found the 7.0 editor that much faster, and would prefer all the old features over habing to wait an extra minute ir so to load and save the db.

I do have to say, that i like the option you have to select which db you want to use when you start a new game but that is about the only thing better than in the 06 editor.
