You don't put it anywhere. Save it wherever you want and run the damn .exe.

Ive done that then a message comes up saying a sharing violation has occured while accesing CProgram Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2007\fm.exe.

Make sure football manager is closed and not running, all you need to do is locate the patch you downloaded, double click on and then click run, follower the instructions until it's finished and your done.
