Can you describe to me how the team performs on the field? (assuming you've seen a few matches on full)
i.e. how is the team attacking and defending?
For example, are they attacking via crosses from the wings into the box, or solo runs from the striker? How are the MCs performing when you're in possession in the opponents half? What kind of passes do they make? Is the pace of the ball movement quick overall? Do you get a lot of offsides? etc...
What type of Target Man are you playing? Which striker scores most of the goals?
Also, what types of formation are you playing against?
With Vauxhall, I mostly played against the standard flat 4-4-2 and sometime 4-3-3/4-3-2-1.

Probably.
I'm testing it out on version 7.0.2 currently. The team I'm using is America FC (RJ) in the Brazilian 3rd division. It's not the best team but if there's any chinks in the tactic, it should show itself. I'm mostly playing against a 4-2-2-2 formation with 2 DMs and 2 MCs with sarrows. The results are mixed so far. I assume my players lack of skills may be a contributing factor.
Here's a couple of things I've noticed:
1. Tight Marking is not effective. I've unchecked it and the team seems to be playing more like the way it should be. They're stringing more passes together and are tighter defensively.
2. Creative Freedom. I previously thought that the higher the CF, the more the player strayed from his instructions. So I had low CF, and all was on team CF. Now I've read that the higher the CF, the more a player would take risks with his passes. With this in mind, I'm experimenting with upping the CF from 3 to 5.
3. Centre Midfielders. For some reason, the MCs tend to be less attack orientated and prefer to pass to the wingers and rarely to the strikers. I've tried upping the Mentality from 10 to 13, and CF from 3 to 5, for one of the MC. I'll try changing the Passing Style later on if that helps.
4. Tempo. With this tactic, you should notice that the pace is fast and long balls to the wings are common. With fast players (>=15) this should be manageable. However, my team averages at about 11 in pace/acc. only. I've brought down the tempo from 12 to 10 with the aim to be more conservative as far as ball movement goes.
5. Hard Tackling. This is a personal preference. I normally have my midfielders on hard tackling in the 1st half and switch to normal in the second. Right now, my players tackling stats aren't that good (<=10) so I've brought it down to normal.
These are all in the testing stages so I wouldn't recommend making wholesale changes as yet. No need to fix what ain't broke. I'll post my progress now and then if I notice something new.
