do: play a target man, if i have a suitable player (almost always have one)
don't: ignore what the AI is doing. if in 'key' highlights i watch the formation screen, and counter things like the dreaded 4-2-4 'desperation' formation rather than just letting the game play itself.

if your have a defensive midfielder (i use parker in my toon game) then have high closing down, plus have him holding up the ball thus allowing the rest of the team to get forward so an attacking pass can be made.
parker has an average rating of 7.92 on mine  | |

| am going to try that one, my central defenders have high closing down but strikers are still getting around them
