I was just turning around a few ideas in my head about this nasty two faced AI business, when it suckers you in to hinking youve got it made then a season or so later *BAM* your suddenly losing 3-2 to Reading, Watford and Millwall.
I did fire off a quick email to SI asking if they would come here and seperate a little of the fact from fiction, lets see what happens.
But anyway, it did occur to me there is one way it may be possible to give a tactic new life, once its been suffocated out of existence by the AI. Its not a nice solution, and only really a short term fix. But its soemthing.
Resign.
Then immeditely rejoin the club.
Would this work? In theory, it could well do.
Im at the office for quite a few more hours but intend to try it later tonight, will post results. I have two good formations that once ruled supreme, so I should be able to see very quickly if this works.

My understanding is its club/manager related in some way.
I say this because when I used to start new games with Liverpool, I was very succesful at the start of games - even though they were a top ranked club.
Once I had been manager a while, the results started to drift.
This pattern has repeated in many other games since, so by either resigning and rejoining, or retiring and adding a (brand) new manager and re-taking over the club could conceivably get round this problem.
I'll give it a bash

Rista, could you elaborate on how you understand the reranking to work? Thx dude
As I understand it, reranking changes the way AI plays against you. So let's say you got promoted to League One and now the media predicts you will finish 20th. Most AI teams will come against you with attacking formations/tactics. You do well (ie manage to counter them by playing direct/counter attacking football for example) and find yourself at 5th position in January (I think that's when reranking occurs). Then the game reranks teams based on how well they have done over the past 6 months. Now, not many teams will use attacking formations against you and many will play defensively so your tactics that worked so well don't work anymore.
I haven't done much research so I could be wrong but that's how I think reranking basically works. Because of that, I doubt resigning and joining the club again is going to make any difference.

I would hope that this is true, and that it IS simply a matter of tactics
I would also very impressed if this was the case
But I just cant reconcile these events with my game experiences - Having switched formations and made adjustments, once the 'slump' has kicked in, its very hard to shake off - Im sure there is some other aspect to what is happening.

This is where the morale comes in. I've done some investigating and my theory is that the club has a morale as well as the individual players.
I believe that the club morale drives the player morale. Eg during the time before the next match the players morale will move closer to the team morale.
An example of this would be when after you team has won your striker has a morale of superb, 5 days later it is fallen to very good, this is an example of passive change.
I have found that you can have players who have high morale, but because the team has low morale this effects the overall performance.
You can get an indication of club morale from the Get Teamtalk feedback screen.
I also believe that Team in the teamtalks effect this club morale and individual comments affect the player.
Luckily talking to the media has a large effect on this club morale. If you get your media comments right then you can significantly increase your club morale.
The point is after a few results go against you club morale will have fallen and sometimes you need to get it back or you will stuggle to get the breaks.
Hope this theory adds to the debate.

I don't think this will work as 're-ranking' is just the AI playing differently against your club as its reputation grows.
So basically the better you become the more the opposition will try and defend against you and look to counter attack you.
So if you quit and re-join the same club their reputation will not change meaning clubs will still play the same way against you.
