Started off playing a counter attacking 442 formation as Portsmouth. Second season and I am top at Christmas.

Second half of the season suddenly I cannot defend, my strikers are still doing their job but my last results have been 4-4 3-4 2-4 etc against the bottom rung Wigan/Everton etc

Against Chelsea/Arsenal at the other top teams we have more balanced games and I pick up more points.

Because I was top has the AI now rebalanced the way it plays against me so I need to come up with a new tactic? Or have my defenders become good friends with Mutu?

I had a similar problem in my Plymouth game also playing a similar formation. At end of December I am looking odds on for the title and Premiership next season - second half of the season I can't win anything and miss out on the playoffs.

What can you do against this?

At christmas i always have better success when I change my formation completely just to keep it fresh (Usually more attacking when a good start), but im not one to fiddle every match.... can't be arsed really.

yeah you have been re-ranked - becuase you are so high up in the league lower teams will be more defensive against you so in-turn you need to go a bi more attacking against them

and forget about the next season because your new attacking type of play will also come undone... just keep changing every 6 months depending upon success

A FAQ would be more useful I think.

With no disrespect intended, Anders, there are four or five topics on re-ranking on the first page alone, and god knows how many if you do a search.

I agree it should be added to the FAQ, but just a quick glance at those other threads would probably have answered your question, and if something was unclear you could have asked there.
