It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default How to get the best out of an AMC?

been trying with different tactics to get the best out of Riquelme but i can't seem to get the balance rite between attack and defence..

tried the 4-4-2 diamond, used by Bayern Munich, Riquelme just disappeared in the game, had no impact at all...

then tried the Chelsea style of 4-1-2-2-1 with wide wingers (see below)

been okay, but the MCs involvement is very limited.. and i leak a lot of goals.. wanted to use Riquelme as a through ball and assist man, to set Villa, Rooney and Ronaldo free...
and for Cahil to come in late, ala Lampard.. but nothing seems to work...

any1 can advise on a tactic to suit the team i have....?

i'm currently using a global setting (attacking) with high closing down throughout...
and a high Defence line and Wide and fast tempo...

am i too attacking orientated?

IMO you should construct a tactic with an AMC position in becuase on here Riquelme is playing out of position, also having no real strong tackler in your central MF 3 means you will lack cver at the back

What passing are you using?
and your closing down is too high IMO to easy to get picked off on the counter.

my problem is i dont have a second good winger besides Ronaldo, and i have Tim Cahil...

i am using rooney in the winger role...
but maybe because i dont have a targetman.. i'm not creating chances...

my passing has been mixed

id move riquelme up to the AMC position, set a free role on him... attacking minded too(3/4 up)

Move carrick into the MC position and set Cahill and carricks mentalitly to half so they concentrate on both attacking and defending... set their forward runs to mixed.

For Ronaldo and Rooney i would put 2 farrows, one to villa's left and one to villa's right.

Ferdinand and vidiv set their mentality to extremely defensive, no forward runs, no closing down. Evra & Neville set forward runs to mixed and their mentality just below half way.

For team instructions set closing down to half way, mentality just above half way so slider says 'attacking'. Passing slow and tempo slow, especially when home. Try perhaps to move them to direct and a faster pace along with counter attack when playing away/tough games.

cheers
