I came up with this silly tatic while i was going through a lean period in my second season in the championship with bristol rovers. Its daft really, but it works. The basis of the tatic is 4-4-2 with advanced wingers with farrows, and the full backs with farrows. Every player in the team is set to ultra defensive, and closing down often. The team attacks and defends together. Tight marking is enabled, so everyone tracks back their man. The 4 attacking up field forwards/wingers are all on creative freedom maximum. The two midfielders/anchormen change their creative freedom and individual player instructions based on which version of my tatic you use. Their main priority is to defend, and protect the back four. All defenders are on creative freedom little.
The wingers will hold up the ball, looking for that perfect pass. You can play this tatic with two fast forwards, or 1 fast forward, and 1 creative/strong forward to hold up the ball/play through balls.
These tatics work for both home and away it seems. If i am expecting a win, or am at home and my defenders should be able to handle their forwards/slash wingers ill play the tatic 4-4-2 balanced. Same if away from home.
If its even, or one side is slight favourites ill play 4-4-2 Single Anchorman. If i am at home or away, and against a much better team, or a team that is heavy favourites ill play 4-4-2 Dual Anchorman.
The result? Well, i seem to dominate possession in almost every game, and have yet to lose a game with this crazy tatic. Is it perfect? I doubt it, but i'd love to hear other peoples experiences with it. I have medium paced defenders, not really slow but not really fast either so i keep my line deep, and have rarely seen their forwards get through one on one with my keeper.
Last tatic is 4-4-2 Solid As A Rock.
A tatic to be used to hold on at the end of a game and time waste like theres no tomorrow.
Hey, yeah it was tough i did it with their default squad, took me a few seasons though. They have a few players who has -7 for potential so its just a case of getting them up to their potential.
I played a different tatic to get them promoted. Sadly, that tatic stopped working when i hit the championship, it was to quick and direct. I think i still have it so your welcome to try it out, it seems decent in the lower leagues.
Just to clarify people, this is an old tatic i am now uploading which i used to get bristol rovers promoted from league 1 to the championship, it seems useless in the higher leagues. But works ok in league 1 and below where skill plays little part.
Nice one mate, glad its working for you. I am getting good results with them as well, especially solid as a rock. Although if you have bad forwards and or wingers i think people could struggle to score enough goals with this tactic.
