Hi mates,

My squad is doing decent in the Primera after being predicted to relegation by the media.

We're currently in 7th, 3 games to go in the first half of the season. Real and Barca are in a League of their own but I am within close range of 3rd place Betis (???).

So my defense is my weakness.

I've got a fantastic keeper (Benaglio, from Switzerland, after one season being played in the team he became a legend, rating 8 game after game after game and making crucial saves).

I've got a very good group of DMs.

But in between I have an aging corp of loyal DCs in Labaka and Asontegi and they're just not good enough. I brought Mikel San Jose from Liverpool on loan but he's inexperienced and prone to mistakes yet.


So my conclusion is that I need a commanding DC, preferably between 28-31 years old in 2010.

Skill sets around 17 on the magic trio Heading-Marking-Tackling, 15 positioning or up, preferably high composure and courage-related skills, and, of course, strong to encourage respect.

If he's quick, better - pace/acc. around 13-14 more than enough.

If any of you know such a miracle for 4 million euros (the last remaining part of my budget at midseason), I'd appreciate ideas.

If you know older guys, that's fine if they have good stamina/natural fitness.

I need a captain of defense for 6-12 months while I rebuild my defense which still has leaks on DR and DL.

have you tried using the filter system enetering all these requirements? that would come up with more accurate results than we could

Actually I did, but these are only parameters.

Nothing replace 'real' experience.

As an example, I thought about Cordoba but his average ratings by 2010 were poor.

I also thought about Silvestre.

Anyway, my search efforts brought me a high number of players, many which are more expensive than I can afford.

The point here is:

a. the search engine brings you results based on the level of knowledge you and your staff have (in this case, I have)

b. despite each game saved is different, nothing replaces human observation, so one may come here and tell me Cordoba is still great and functions well as a leader for a young-blooded defensive unit

Maybe someone knows a Paraguayan Gamarra-like DC, or a Colombian, or even an African strong DC playing in a not-so-high-profile league like Israel or Norway...

well there are a few decent players with potential leels of -7 -8-9 and -10 at the beginging maybe djouroue? [spelling] from arsenal? he was young 19 at the begining and always turns our gd or maybe godwin antwi from liverpool reserves? corluka from man city? these are only sugestions im not saying they are all world class. but they can perform well in the champins league as i have used all of them. so im guessing they will be gd for the spanish league. any more problems? if not good luck with ur season.

i just thought of maybe steven taylor from newcastle? he is aways gd against me try him too

everytime i get a scout report on taylor it says he be a last resort signing as liverpool

Djourou (I think) is good but too expensive just like Corluka already is in my game.

Actually I was thinking more of a veteran composed and strong fellow - but I'll definitely check Steven Taylor and Godwin Antwi - never heard of the latter, I think I heard of the former but haven't actually seen him playing much.

well i got a few reccomendations for full backs marcelo is g for left antoi barragan for right. and its no problem to help. and antwi has got a munis ability so its random wether he is gd or not but he is worth scouting. im guessing taylor has too as my scouts say he would be as good as carragher
