Default Forcing a player to retire

Can I force a player to retire? or suggest him that? because I play at Milan and I have a lot of old lads ... the players who have 36 years, want 3 years contract ... and I never play them ... the wages are big, so I don't want to have them in my team ... I can't sell them (sentimental reasons), and I don't want to let them on a free (sentimental reasons here too) .... so ?

leave your sentimental reasons they don't belong in football, dump them and free up some wages and use it on youngsters

I can't free up Maldini ... his Influence is too big for that ... the fans will be upset ... same with Inzaghi and Cafu ... in FM07 was Costacurta too ... now he's my Assistant Manager ...

if I suggest them a coaching role or something else ... can be this a way to force them to retire?

no you can't ... you can do that just when the players decided to retire at the end of the season ... and if you offer him a coach / asst. mgr / scout contract ... on his profile will be so: Player (position), Scout (or anything else), Team ... but you can't play him after that, even that on his profile shows that he is a player too ...

Yes you can, if you can get them to agree to a staff role only then they will be off your hands, but thats easier said then done as they will want to keep the huge wages that you are paying out

easiest option is to not renew their contracts

i understand gourcuff20's frustration, i mean that's still +20000 euros / week on players that u don't use, and some of these guy's contracts have got 2 years left on the contracts at the beggining of the game.
