End of season = promotion in second behind Carlisle.

Board Expectations for Divison 2 = "Battle bravely against relegation"

Whilst this is a little harsh, I certainly don't expect to be moving up a division at the end of this season. I'm becoming somewhat hamstrung by the limited capacity at the Deva Stadium. Revenue is next to zero!

:o embarrassed end of season update :o

Um, I won division 2. I'm not quite sure how. The rest of the division was really poor though. Even when at one stage I picked up 1 point in 18 nobody closed the 3 point gap I had before that run

Stayed afloat through player sales. Two of my starting squad (from the conference) went for a combined £2.5m. In fact looking at my income for the year, which was just over £8m, £4.5m came from player sales. Given that my Expenditure was over £7m (okay, I did buy in some new players with the transfer income, but spent £2m less than received) I really will be stuffed in Div 1 if the board don't increase capacity from 6,000 at the Deva.

I have asked them and got the "leave running the business side of things to us" message. I really honestly don't expect much this year.

For Taipan's benefit, I am playing by the rules, honest. I'm staggered by my success so far. Perhaps I should have taken up the Leigh RMI no keeper challenge after all.

Okay, have just started in Division 1 and the board have kindly not expanded the stadium. 9 games in and I have by far the lowest average attendance (5,900 ish in a stadium for 6k).

After whopping season ticket sales of £700,000 I generate about £13,000 in gate receipts per match :o

Fortunately, this close season Arsenal, Liverpool & ManUre have decided to release loads of promising youngsters, a few of whom have signed after successful trials. Everton even released a certain young striker, but his wage demands were astronomical.

Have had a reasonable start to the season, but have been brought down to earth by hammerings from Birmingham & Man City (7-3!). And Northampton Town are top of the league

Could still do with a keeper and an experienced defender (average age of first choice defence = 20!!!).

Oh well. Here's hoping I don't go bankrupt this season.

Gentlemen (and ladies should any wander this way),

I need a little advice.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by mkus:

It the first week of December. Despite pish poor gate receipts due to the limited capacity at the Deva Stadium, some inspired transfer wheeler dealing by Cheter's manager sees the current bank balance at £4.5 million in the black (green). Although this sounds quite good it's only actually the equivalent of my tv revenue for the season, and low gate receipts are gradually eating in to it. However, I should still just about be in credit come the end of the season.

The team is performing admirably in it's inaugural Division 1 season, hovering between mid table and the lower reaches of the playoff places.

Without warning, the board decides to inject £9,750,000 . I should feel pleased. Actually I feel quite dirty. I now have £14,500,000 in the bank and a transfer kitty of £9.5m.

It just doesn't feel right. Right now the whole game feels sullied. Should I battle through this until the feeling wears off, or should I resign in disgust and find somewhere else where the board's a b@st@rd??

Well, you have earned it (and been a bit lucky/unlucky depending on how you see it).

Also if your gate reciepts are as low as you say then surely your balance will go slowly downwards so you still have to be frugal.

I would see what your finances are like at the end of the season. But it is your decision

I'm with the homicidal cat 'n mouse.

You've lived through the lean times, now is your chance to actually spend money. Get your scouts abroad, you can aford it after all. Live a little.

Enjoy yourelf, LLM is depressing sometimes and times like these are a godsend.

Well, I've stuck it out so far.

Lost 2nd place with one game to go and finished 3rd. Got through the semis of the playoff. A quick look at divisions 3 & 2 revealed that the highest placed playoff team got promoted - hurray.

I think you can guess what happened next - 3-0 down after 15 minutes and lost 4-1

Still the board upgraded the stadium to 10,xxx and maintained the facilities at adequate. My £9.75m handout has gone in one fell swoop

Board still expect me to battle bravely against relegation - I finished 3rd FFS.

Still, shouldn't grumble.
